And, of course, the cake doing the best is the one I dropped on the floor, threw in the garbage, rinsed off and put in the fruiting chamber. Makes zero sense.

Sometimes, when the mycelium feels threatened, it will start to pin. It's like it's hurrying up before it's too late. Your other cakes should catch up soon enough, though; everything looks pretty good to me.
I see some yellowish stuff mixed with the perlite in some places, but can't tell what it is. Maybe a stoner moment. Good Luck!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. That does make sense. I jumped the gun a little on birthing them, and I'm probably not going to get the yields I want before contamination becomes a problem. I just get so impatient.

You're killing it for your first grow.
What are all the white lumps on the cakes? Is that just perlite that got on them?

I have a casing question. I am new to this and may have messed up. I took fully colonized jars to poo tray but I also applied a thin layer of 50/50 Verm peat pasteurized( didn't have any gypsum or the other stuff so it's just verm and peat).. After researching it says to apply that AFTER the tray is colonized. Does it really matter to do it after?

Many of us have had great success casing at spawning. I find that if you are going to do this, it's best to go ahead and put it into fruiting conditions too. Good luck!

I'm a noob. Began my first grow a week ago. Prior to attempting to grow, I spent a few months reading about cultivation.
My noob advice: read, read, and read some more. So far, I've seen good growth in most my jars.

Seeing good growth in my pairs of jars innoced on 5/27, 5/28, and 5/31. Expecting to see growth in the next few days in the 4 jars in innoced on 6/2.
Pretty good so far.

I have a metal playlist going 24/7 in my shroom room. They are disturbed.
