Actually, today is my lucky day.  Going to go buy a bunch of lottery tickets.

Statistically, you would get better returns on your investment by putting your money in the cookie jar rather than buying lottery tickets.

Well, 4 years ago, on Friday the 13th in March, I was at this computer, looked out the window which overlooks my back yard and pool, and saw HUNDREDS OF EARTHWORMS crawling to the edge of the pool at about 7:00 AM!!! I had NEVER seen anything like this before - or since! I raced outside and hosed the perimeter even though it is a fairly large pool and deck. To no avail! They crawled back out of the grass, onto the cement deck, and drowned themselves! I had to go to work, but when I returned, the bottom of the pool was covered with worms. I had to net them out before they rotted and stained the pool. I left a huge mound of water-logged, rotting worms on the golf course behind my yard and I've gotta say that I did not take them far enough away. The whole stinking, fly-swarmed pile smelled worse than any dead animal I have ever come across - nauseating! Friday the 13th. Today, I stayed home from work just for a 4 day weekend. So far, so good.

More fun to buy lottery tickets than to stick the money in a cookie jar.

A few years ago, on a Friday the 13th, I received a check from a trust fund for $13K.  Later I went and bought ice cream and champagne and it came to exactly $13.00.

That is PROOF that Friday the 13th is my lucky day.

Was playing poker last week when I a hit a small "rush" (a series of wins - always noted "after-the-fact"). To get away from a smoker, I moved one seat over. This lady looks at me like I was nuts. "Why would you move with cards like you have been getting?" she asked incredulously. Most of the other players nodded silently in agreement with the woman. "I'm not superstitious," I replied flatly. *small gasps from around the table* "Well, I certainly would NOT give up such a lucky chair!" she replied firmly. In my head, I am going "Yeah, whatever. I guess it was the chair that won half of the pots with inferior cards (read: bluffing)."

Poker players are notoriously superstitious. My favorite is when the big winner at the table leaves and 3 people fight over taking his chair. Then that seat is also "cold" and they bounce over to the next open seat. Gets to be fucking musical chairs sometimes.

Isn't the whole unlucky 13 thing to do with the number of people at the last supper with jesus? I don't get this at all, christians aren't meant to be superstitious and it's pretty irrelevant to anyone else :S
