OP - Do you have holes in the tub on the sides and under the perlite? I can't tell from the pics. It looks like the holes stop before reaching the perlite but it might be my monitor.

Yeah, they don't go all the way down, but I usually have the perlite going all the way up to the holes.

So here it is today... more aerial myc, no pins... I've decided to take it right out of the FC for the day and let it breath easy...

Well this could be the source of your issue and is well lowering your humidity potential. A proper shot gun terrarium will have evenly spaced holes completely covering all 6 sides of the container.
I like your substrate, I am curious to how you made it, I think I see the remnants of a spawn bag underneath

Be careful how you treat that thing, lone straw can dry out pretty fast.

I think you have a problem with FAE, as previously stated. My understanding of a proper SGFC is that it is basically holier than swiss cheese.
You need holes all around the chamber. Including the bottom of the sides and the bottom of the chamber itself. It is the evaporative process in the perlite that draws fresh air in through the bottom, moistening it, and letting stale, heated air rise and exit through the upper portions of the chamber. The chamber should be sitting up off any surface and not directly on it to allow air circulation underneath. A couple of 1'' square lengths of wood would suffice.

The trend is 1/8th - 1/4th inch sized holes every 2 inches. If anyone has an optimization on this idea...........................

Check it out. After having it out in the open air for a couple hours, the aerial mycelium has receded a bit.

Course it did, which is what everyone told you it needed. Mist that constantly, the only reason why straw yeild the way it does is because of the water content. When that goes, so does the yield.

LOL... It's a seed that survived in my straw... It germinated so I decided to let it grow.

So... I'm getting lots of mycelial knotting, but no pins yet. I've decided to kick the SGFC to the curb for this grow, and built a humidity tent. Hard to see, but there are lots of hole all over that trash bag.

So I'm getting what looks like knotting, but still no pins. It's been unchanged in this state for a few days. Again, this is my first time doing straw with cubes. Any idea what's going on? Am I just being impatient?

Hey guys. So this thing was producing LOTS of hyphal knots, but no pins. I realized my straw was kind of drying out, so I decided to give it a 24 dunk in H2O. Well... When I pulled it out of the water, this guy was there... One pin. But it looks like more of my knots are turning to primordia. YAY!
Hopefully I don't end up with one lousy mushroom, lol.

I'm glad you decided to dunk it. I was going to suggest that earlier but I was avoiding arguing with the know it alls. Dunking before the first flush plus you are using straw, you really want to give that first flush max potential.

Yeah. I should have dunked. I have another one ready to be birthed from the spawn bag, I'm wondering if I should do the dunk and roll like a pf cake? I bet it would help retain moisture longer and create a better micro-climate on the surface.

Still not a great pin set do to dehydration early on, but since dunking and fixing my SGFC, this guy is recovering fairly well.
