Well if the commercial fruit is an isolate from spore and they take it back to slant every grow then you could feasibly have a young culture, right

Prepping a bunch of grain masters, I have a few promising clones Im excited to see grown out in tubs.
I went a little overboard here, these would do about 28 , 5qt spawn bags normally. Im just gunna put 1 qt to 1 bag this time, so Im not pulling my hair out in a few weeks

wouldn't you still get senescence though? I mean, after fruiting it for generations like that? Mycelium can only extend so far. I imagine some work with spores goes on on the side, while using the present isolates to retain genetic similarities.

"Commercial mushroom farms tend to grow out their mycelium to the point of senescence prior to fruiting, so clones taken from the grocery store usually perform poorly if at all. RR"

They certainly wouldnt take it back to slant each grow. Theyre gunna wanna expand thier spawn as much as possible Im pretty sure. RR is talking about like grocery store oysters in this quote so maybe a little out of context I doubt the people making these kits are gunna do as much spawn as an edible farm would but they do sell a fuck ton of these kits

Mushpunx I imagine that they would push the P values pretty hard on those kits too. But given some good care you could probably keep a culture from one viable for some time. Cubes can be pushed pretty hard and if you think about it some of those edible cultures have been around for decades.

Right on man I mean yea look at how that clone worked out! He has a powerfull tub there!
Honestly I dont reallt know much about how senescence works into cultivation
For my good cultures I keep a slant and a master plate. I take a tiny transfer from master for each working plate Im gunna be putting wedges to grain masters. My master plates last me a looong time to use up and have to go back and pull from the slant.
I figure thats pretty solid for small scale home cultivation yea?

If done like that, no. The original culture isn't what's being fruited for generations, it's just chilling in the fridge. Granted that's probably not how they do it but, you never know.

@liloldme, You keep the foil on your jars all the way through colonizing?? I heard so many rumors of the jars needing to breath for gas exchange??

Pastywhyte said: That explains a few things then. I have often suspected that those precolonized kits are using good isolates to ensure that something is produced in the crappy setup. Cloning one of those and then giving it good conditions would result in a great grow.
Smart work there

I did the same with mine and it was the best PE grow I've had to date. It's the tub on the right in my sig. Haven't been able to grow that many penises since then. It was also my first grow, made it with a clone dropped in an LC since I didn't have any agar at the time. I was rather lucky, LCs and me don't mix nowadays. Plus I was using a SAB, those and me don't mix either. It was a miracle I pulled it off that one time for sure.
By the time my agar arrived and I saved the genetics, I had cloned it again, only this time the yield sucked. Just my luck eh?

. tgs zes jars need gas exhange, they need holes m. The foil is only on during sterilization to keep water from getting in and fucking up warer content in jars. It comes off right before inoculation and stays off

Woke up to a harvest from one of my Hanoi cakes and my bag Z-strain this morning. Love waking up to harvest's more than coming home to harvests, it just seems to be a great way to start the day.
Couldn't really figure a easy way to harvest the bag without cutting it. I have it dunking right now, so I was considering putting it in my empty 29qt Monotub by itself, it should sustain another flush in that environment, no?
Anyways, here's some pics.. Hanoi Cake:
z-stran Bag:

Couldn't find a easy way to cut this one, so I broke it off. Took a decent amount of grain with it, consequently. Just makes it more prone to infection?

Hanoi on the left, Z-strain on the right:
And I made some prints to give away. Can't enter the trade forum for less than a month, and kind of want to get a good rating before than. So, I got 1 Hanoi print and a few z-strains prints, message me where to send. First come first serve.
