Using honey's antibacterial properties to help with contamination?

So honey has antibacterial properties and I can't see any reason it would hurt the mycelium or its growth. Seeing as how bacterial contaminations are some of the more common ones, it'd be nice to have extra help against them. Thoughts?

At concentrations effective at inhibiting bacterial growth honey will be too drying for mushrooms to tolerate its presence. And you will find that diluted honey does not offer much in the way of protection (slightly more than a sugar dilution of the same concentration, perhaps).
The antimicrobial mode of action of honey is primarily mediated by its high osmolarity (caused by high sugar content), which dehydrates microorganisms on contact — same reason you don't find yeast growing in your table sugar jar at home.

plus I think honey can be full of mold spores and other nasty shit. A few months ago I tried using a honey LC I forgot to pc and I got lots of growth! Nothing I wanted to grow though, lol.

Yeah, I figured there had to be a reason it wasn't in use already, lol. Thanks for the info!

It also has antifungal properties... Luckily when diluted neither the antibacterial nor the antifungal properties come into effect as strongly..

You'd be better off using aquarium additives/chemicals OP.

Honey loses almost all of its antimicrobial properties when diluted to less than 20% sugar by weight
