Just out of curiosity, but have any of you tried this?
    #2327288 - 02/12/04 04:33 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

First off "my friend" would just like so say a big THANK YOU for all the help you guys have him.  His first flush with his casings went extremely well, and he owes it all to the shroomery  .  He is almost done w/ the second flush and was wondering if this idea he had would work...

After the shrooms and aborts are picked off the casings, could one take all the substrate from the casings, mix it all up into one bag, dunk it and cold shock it, then fruit it?  Would this maybe be beneficial, or would he just be wasting his time?    Thanks for the advice!

you would be wasting nutrients in it having to recolinize
What is the substrate?
If its straight I know you can definitly dunk that but you should scrape the casing material off first

the casing material is just verm, and good call on wasting the nutrients having it re-colonize. Like i said, it was just a thought, but thanks for the reply Fee!

Yep Nick, you can do this. I wouldn't reccommend it unless you are having unhealthy flushes, bad cases of overlay, high number of aborts, or if you have gotten all of the flushes you can out of your casings.

whenever i get done with all my flushes, and my cakes look about spent, i just take all my cakes and the verm that was on top of them and around the base and crumble n mix everything together. then i just throw it into a tupperware bin as is...sometimes i get a lil suprise o' shrooms, but most of the time it just shits off a few good shrooms and then gets contams

Yes it works but you usually don't have to dunk and cold shock for the second flush. Only if you want to get all you can out of a good one.

I used to throw them into the compost pile... I find that it provides more nutrition for the garden, helps break down the compost and frequently find soem little guys hanging out with the compost...
