I’ve never seen this thread before.
The one that’s been happening a lot the last couple weeks is people who refuse to read and want their hand held through each step.
Like they’ll start a thread that says
“I just got two spore syringes, what do I do now?”

Personally, my thoughts are that if for example you’re a complete beginner such as myself, if you’re going to start a post (ask a question) then you should at least try to follow the criteria for posting. I’m guilty of posting before reading the rules, thus making myself look like a dumbass on my first sentence.
However, I’ve come to understand how the site operates and how to use it like an encyclopedia. If I post a new thread I’ll be sure to check every avenue, and keep it strictly containing quality info as well as pics. Oh and I have a fecal phobia so I get sick talking about eating anything that grows from human and/or dog feces. 🤮🤐

Just a noob here. Yes, I've seen the same dufus posts. But the amount of vitriol expressed here seems to me to be as big a waste of time as the posts you're complaining about. The bell shaped curve will always have that left side toe. Get over it. There is an "ignore" button. Or are you the sort of person that just has to slow traffic to a crawl while you stare at a wreck?
BTW, I've got my Nomex underwear on, so blaze away

Seriously though, he makes good points. 10 of them in fact. There once was a day where there were two different forums. "Getting Started" and the main "mush cult" but now we're all together under one cyber roof and it's begun testing peoples patience levels. You would go into the 'getting started' forum and wade through pages and pages of identical threads. I considered writing a paper of all the common answers so I could just copy and paste answers but decided that wasn't worth my time since they could literally just read the thread above theirs. Stick around a little longer and you'll see why it needed to be brought up.
Another one that I would like to see added to the list is the influx of combative noobs that will fight endlessly because we told them their uncle bens bags are contaminated and to stop getting advice from reddit or youtube. Or combative noobs that come in here and don't get the answers they want so they want to argue about it.

I told myself I'd register on here when I found a question I couldn't answer.
I grew for several years, and made many of the outdated/noobish mistakes on this list. In part because I followed outdated threads, and in part because I started hitting information overload and just charging blindly forward.
I was still always able to just return to the search function to answer my questions and revise my techniques. Did I have to read through ridiculous flame wars between giant egos just to get approximate answers sometimes? Of course. It's still science, innit?
I finally just registered and started posting on here because it's one of the only parts of the internet that doesn't completely suck. Still haven't really found a question to ask that I couldn't sort out with a trip through the archives.
I mean shit, it's free advice on growing drugs. Likely the global state of the art, too. So what if it's a little unwieldy to get through- probably not a bad thing, either, in the grand scheme of things. Also, so what if sometimes people extract payment in snark and inside jokes. The gifts of the faerie are never truly without cost.
I hear Uncle Ben is a generous fellow, though, as long as you sacrifice a random number of bags of rice to him.

Nomex notwithstanding, Some clarification seems to be in order. I've been here long enough to get a pretty good feel for the content, and trust me, I was a teacher at the CC level for 7 years. I know what it is to cast pearls before swine. You have my empathy. BUT, ranting about it here does nothing to reduce the number of swine in the general population. Nor does it serve the purpose of the forum, which, correct me if I'm wrong, is to support each other's efforts at all levels.
All I'm saying is judicious use of the tools available would go a long way to reducing your anxiety.
Oh, and BTW, no argument can exist without someone rising to the bait.
Seriously folks, PAX

I think you're taking this way too seriously. It was obviously a light hearted thread about noobs being noobs. Relax.

I didn’t make this thread all those years ago to express vitriol. It was actually meant as a resource for new posters to help them avoid being flamed and make mistakes they might later regret. It was also intended to provide some levity or humour to a usually very serious audience. I had hoped it could still serve those purposes. I likely wouldn’t bother writing this thread today. I’m a different person now, back then I wasn’t even a mod yet. I was known for writing teks but I wanted to broaden my scope a bit. Also IIRC there was an actual need for this thread. There were times when I would link it for noobs in an effort to help them. I still keep it around as I hope most people might see what I was trying to do. Apologies if anyone has taken offence, seems to be a hard thing to avoid these days

You're probably right about taking it all too seriously. Best advice I've gotten all day Need to be more mindful.

This thread came up semi-regularly as I was doing my initial research and I found it incredibly helpful, so thank you again for putting it out there.
