Yes, such an anecdote should be translated either, "I got lucky once," or "I got lucky again."

Just to make something clear - the "black stuff" in spore syringes might not be just spores. I've ordered from a vendor whose syringe was completely black, I couldn't see through it. They probably filled it with fine graphite particles so that it would look like it's full of spores. "Good" marketing trick, so make sure you don't fall for it guys. The spores in the syringe were vital, though.

If it was a "new moon" syringe it's likely the black was charcoal put in to disguise the fact that the syringe didn't have spores but rather liquid culture.

No, this was from a reputable vendor and it was definitely spores (took a few days to germinate). Not sure if vendor names are allowed on this forum. Even after full colonization the black stuff is visible where it's touching the sides of the container. They clearly want to look superior to all other vendors but the intelligent folks will instantly notice the fishy smell.

I have noticed that the threads that all seem to earn facepalms or cause people to become sad, all seem to have the same topics, the same fails. If the search engine was used it would be easily avoided, but alas the search engine seems a little used resource these days. So here is the top 10 thread subjects guaranteed to elicit scorn. I swear we see 100's of these over and over again.
10. Eating substrates. This is gross and regardless of whether or not you might catch a buzz, its a piss poor return on materials and time.
9. Blue color. Seriously if you don't understand yet that the mushrooms you are growing stain blue, you have not nearly done enough reading. Not nearly enough. This also goes for black/ purple caps. Its spores damnit, harvest them shits already. . .
8. Growing on dog doo. Or human. Just no. Gross, stupid, ill informed. Animals that eat grasses or grains yes. Animals that eat other animals. . . just no.
7. Critique my fruiting chamber idea. We see 1000s of these. They are all ill conceived, generally with a really poor understanding of the organisms needs. I don't care that you need a stealth grow, with a few exceptions, most new people simply do not know what is needed to do a grow well. I'm not talking about a few fruits to a trich finish. I can do that in a trash can. If you were qualified to design a good fruiting chamber, you would not need to get any critiques. Learn to grow properly first and watch the yields rise.
6. Desiccate drying. This is plain old and tedious. If that's how you did it in the 80's fine, but there is no reason for people to be mucking around with it these days. Which leads into point 5.
5. Heat kills potency. I can't believe this is still a debate in some peoples eyes. We have seen fruits deep fried, grilled, pressure cooked, boiled in tea and guess what? Heat won't hurt potency, at least not enough to notice. You know what does? Rotting fruits in a desiccate chamber. Taking 5 days to get them dry. Those things hurt potency. You just finished all the hard stuff, and at the end is where you are going to cut a $40 corner. No.
4. Anything with a kit. Sure ya fucked up, spent crazy cash on a $3 bag of rye berries for $50 or some plastic tray with perlite in the bottom. Accept that ya screwed up, and build the SGFC if you want a result at all.
3. Peroxide. Peroxide is useless for anything but cobweb mold. Useless.
2. Cobweb mold. If you have Dactylium that means your fruiting chamber is complete shit. 95% of the time its just mushroom mycelium. 4.8% of the time its a pin mold. 0.2% of the time its actual cobweb. You don't have it and if you do, you need to get your shit together.
1. Any post with no paragraph spaces, no pictures, and is 5000 words long. I ain't gonna read it. If your post resembles that, you need to stop talking and start reading. Don't try to describe what your grow looks like, its like a janitor trying to perform brain surgery over the phone with a neurosurgeon. Take a pic, be sure its in focus, post that.
If you are about to make a post that fall under this criteria, better give it another look.
The only one I agree with is 1. Thanks for the challenge. I'll see your post for my post in the near future my friend.

Well you said the only point you agreed with was number 1. . . I interpreted that to mean you disagree with point number 8. Given your love of manure based substrates I simply put a deuce together.
