slow colonization of rabbit manure
    #2325566 - 02/11/04 06:45 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

I made a practice casing of rabbit manure. The mix is 40% coir 30% rabbit manure and 20% regular compost. I put about 1 pint of wbs spawn into the 4x8x4 tray in layers with the top layer with the most spawn. For pasturization i put a coffee cup in a cooler and had 180 deg water in the cooler and then poured boiling water into the coffee cup. Its colonizing but its been almost a week and its going slow its only about 1/2" from the spawn.

What do you guys think i did wrong? I heard about too much Nitrogen is bad and rabbit manure has lots of N. So mabey i should just pasturize in the cooler of hot water instead of in the can in the pot of water. This way the nitrogen can leach out into the water. Do you think this will help?

Just use cow or horse poo.  The cuter the animal, the worse its poo is for growing

Dam! I kinda eyeballed the mix ao i was playing with the numbers to get waht i thought was close to what i mixed. Im going to say add that 10% to the compost because it was almost 50/50 with the compost/manure. Im going to do one more casing of poo an ddepending on the outcome, i might be giving up on poo for now. I decided going WBS from here is best in till my outdoor patch in a few months.
