A lot of us have been struggling with opiate addiction/relapse recently and I know a lot of us want to put down junk and turn our lives around.
I think it would be best for all of us in this boat to support eachother and ban together to get junk out of our lives.
Today I did what I hope to be my final bag of junk for a while and used my final needle which I threw away after using it. Some other memebers here have told me they are in the middle of kicking or planning to kick very soon.
If your struggling please share what's going on and how your doing. Share your detox plan and record your progress. Also this thread can serve as a place for members who have previously suffered from opiate addiction to show support to members still struggling.
I believe if we support eachother we can turn our lives around and break free from the chains of junk.

Sincere thanks for the kind supporting words. It did help but I got drunk early in the day, which was a mistake. I'm doing ok and just going to put this minor setback behind me and keep trying.

Haven't shot in over a year. My right hand is the worst. Surprisingly though scarred, veins still pop out like crazy when I work out.
Used to bum me out now idgaf. Hey could be worse, I know a guy who lost his arm...

Just checking in.
Havent used H in about 7 weeks.
Feeling good.
Glad I no longer have any exposure to it in my regular life, as I did in my younger years.
Feeling the weight of being one who exposed many people to it, acting like it wasnt a big deal, until I learned the hard way that it was.
I accept what ive done wrong now, I see what H did to my life and what I allowed it to do.
Things are a lot different now, one or two years ago I was an entirely different person.
But now I see the detriment my tendencies bring to my future and my potential, which are all intrinsically tied in with my prosperity and purpose.
What a waste I have made, but im grateful for lessons learned.
I am climbing back to the place where I would have been had I not chosen to desert and destroy my path to get there.
Things look better now, I feel I am who I want to be.
I know now that being who you want to be will make you feel better than feeling how you want to feel.
Thats all it really comes down to for me.

God Bless ~ The Good Captain

I think you're missing the point, it's not that someone is throwing away years of sobriety that is a problem with relapse, it's that it only takes 1 beer, shot, pill or whatever to set someone back on the path of active addiction.
Yes, sometime people choose to return to the behavior. Sometime people change their relationship to using - especially when they realize they're in control of their behavior and the choices they make.
Drew Barrymore was a full blown drunkard by the time she reached the age of 11. Now she drinks and owns a winery. We must dismantle the fear based falsehoods that teach people they are powerless. These ideas are crippling and keep people battling an imaginary disease that doesn't exist.

I believe that telling people that they are powerless is harmful, but I also know that if you are anything like myself, taking the 1st pill, drink ect. is playing Russian roulette. For some people it's not such an obvious choice, they think that they are in control until they are not.
Edit: I disagree strongly that addiction is an imaginary disease, addiction is chronic, insidious, progressive and terminal for some. Addiction causes changes in the body at the cellular level just as cancer other diseases cause measurable changes. Yes, addiction can be arrested and recovery possible, but it will always be just below the surface and many things can bring it back out.
