spores = temperamental?
    #2325771 - 02/12/04 04:22 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

my question is basically this: given the proper environment (80-85 degrees in a suitable substrate), will spores always germinate, or can they be finicky?
i have some jars that refuse to germinate or even contaminate. as far as i know i did everything correctly.

TIA

If the spores are very old or dead (because they were radiated or exposed to extreme temperatures) they won?t germinate(easily).

the syringe itself is no more than 3 months old...dunno about the spores themselves. i've had them stored in the fridge.

might be a contam, might have injected them to earler after sterilizng, they might have been exposed to extreme heat.

sometimes it can take up to a month for germination to take effect. Wait it out, something is bound to grow eventually, if not try again against the glass.

I have a jar that took 5 and a half weeks to begin colonization, but is doing great now. It happens, or your spores are bunk. Shake the crap out of the syringe and shoot onto the glass.
