Yah, mine was not bolted down, they came into our house found my keys in the closet then opened my door and took it. fuckers!
makes me mad just thinking of it.
So u say a 6-8inch sub in a ported box but the size of a 12" sub sealed box?
Sounds intriguing

Calls for 0.3-0.35cuft ported per sub. Tiny. The box I had for my single Digital Designs 9500 15" sub was 7cuft lol. Left just enough room in the trunk for a small row of groceries.

Ive got a set of 12" kicker compR's, 1200 watt kicker amp and a Kenwood deck. First time I bought a set of kickers I was amazed by them.

I've owned Kickers entire product line over the last 8 years. I wish someone turned me towards the better brands before I wasted all that money lol :P four Kicker L7s can't hold a candle to a single Digital Designs or Sundown audio sub.

Build it. Prefab boxes suck and you lose a lot of volume and sound quality compared to a box thats designed for the sub you're using, and if a pre-fab is too far off from the subs specs it can stress the sub and lead to premature failure. I can't stress enough how big of a difference a proper box makes. It makes me sick that pre-fab boxes even exist. The odds of getting a sub that works well with a prefab box are slim to none.

Totally depends on what type of music you listen to . With most of the music I listen to, I literally won't listen to it unless I have a proper system that pushes out the lower frequencies. With a properly balanced system the bass isn't excessive.
Most of the music I listen to has a lot going on in those lower frequencies, with out a sub-woofer I wouldn't even be able to hear a good portion of the song....Also, I like to feel my music as much as I hear it, and that can be done with out the bass being excessive/loud or washing out the rest of the song.
I'm also posting here just to follow the thread about random sub-woofer talk .

Yeah its not really a hard concept to understand that if you make the bass louder, you simply make the mids and highs louder so you don't "ruin the music".
I've been in vehicles with 6+ 15-18" subwoofers on obscene power, 20-30-40,000+ watts of bass, and they have all the mids and highs they need for it to sound amazing. You don't lose anything, you actually might gain sounds you've never heard in songs before listening to them on regular stereos Its a trip.

I like to call the bassline the "hidden track" cause only good subwoofers can reproduce them effectively.

Damn kids, subs are for my home AV setup so I can hear the cello on Wes Anderson scores.
