Hey everyone, take a gander at this (pedro)

Hey everyone, haven't posted in these parts of the shroomery in a while, and it's good to be back.  Winter sucks, but spring should be here in a couple months.  Anyways, introducing my latest procurement:

This San Pedro cutting was taken from a 20+ year old cactus, is about a foot long and 3-5" thick!  The only odd thing is that it only has 5 ribs, and I heard pedro's usually have 6-8 ribs???   I was planning on taking a cutting from the tip,

but the tip is kinda mottled and not uniform.  I was wondering if I could just take a cutting from the tip of a rib, or if I'll have to take a cutting the whole way through the entire cactus.  Ideally, I would like to take the smallest cutting possilbe.  Thanks for any info.

Anyone else want to give a second opinion? I was sold this as a cutting from a very old San Pedro, the areoles and spines seem consistent with a pedro, but the 5 ribs bothers me. I bought this for a friend, and want to make sure that it is an active specimen. Any other opinions are appreciated.

It's active for alright, he was just saying it looks like a variant of San pedro that's not very common.

What a nice piece of cactus! I usually make new cuttings for propagation whenever I harvest. I usually take at least the top 6 inches for callousing off and then planting. I love older cacti.

Your pictures are pretty blurry, but the rib count varies a lot, and will change due to environmental conditions.
