I believe it is a Wood Based MycoBag . They start off looking like this.
Good job Millet. I can't wait to see how it does. I think those have medicinal value as well as gourmet value. I will have to look around some and find out for sure again. Where did I read that? hmmmm

Excellent article mycobag, I just love the mushworld site, so much info so little time........;)
Mycobag is right, the lions mane pictured is growing from a woodland mycobag, which is a wood matrix mix.
This strain is coming along nicely. The fruitbody is taking on a very pretty lite pink coloration, this is the most beautiful fungi ive ever cultivated bar none.
Here are some updated pics for your viewing pleasure.
I look forward to tasting this one, never having eaten it before.
Best regards,
Millet

This strain fruited at 68-72 degrees, in a 100% humidity descending fog environment.
It is the fastest colonizer I have ever seen, running a woodland mycobag in just under 6 days! That is fucking fast, faster than my other colonizing champ, maitake. Both of these will run a bag faster than my keeper Pl pulm, which is a speed demon.
Primordia were observed 4 days after being placed in the fruiting chamber.
This is an easy one to grow, id place it with oysters in the 'ease of growth' category.
Anybody know of any indicators I might look for to know when this thing is at peak ripeness, im dying to taste this mushroom.
best regards,
Millet

I hear they taste bitter... (please let us know) makes sense as alot of medicinal mushrooms/plants are bitter
bitter is better for the bodily battle

I don't think they're bitter at all, so long as they are harvested early, before the top of the fruitbody starts turing pink and soft.
If you cook them up in butter instead of oil, they are a tiny bit reminiscent of lobster in texture/flavor. They're wonderful! *yum*

Something came up and I wasnt able to harvest last nite. The mushroom looks to still be in prisitine shape, I think all an extra day did was allow it to bulk up a little more.
Im very satisfied with this mushroom thus far. if I had a way to sterilize large quantities of sawdust blocks id definitely pursue this one as a mainstay.
Itll be harvested and eaten tonite.
Best regards,
Millet

We always let them go till they have nice looking teeth like icecles hanging. Before the tops turn brown is when we harvest them. We have had fruits the size of soft balls before. I luv the way the spaw smells, its so sweet . I even ate a handfull once. Good lookin mushies Millet arnt they freaky.

Well, I still havent harvested this bag. Ive got a few more of these going and want to see how they mature. The teeth of the fruitbody are starting to extend, so it shouldnt be long til harvest time.
This mushroom is a real beauty, and easy to fruit.
best regards,

And I think it has an exellent taste. Stamets discribe it as lobster flavour. I think it tastes like shrimps and the funny thing is when cooked they also look like shrimp flesh. Light pink and the consiatancy is nearly the same- a bit like rubber/gum.
Absolutely wonderful this one. And a fast and easy growing species as well...
