Along with the hole, you should take the lid off the container 2 times a day and fan it out.

Since CO2 tends to sink to ground level, I would think at the bottom above the perlite would be best. That way the CO2 could seep out the hole when it starts to collect above the perlite. But then again, this assumes that CO2 seeps. :wink:

This raises a question I have had for some time.

DOES CO2 settle out of "solution" or not???

IF yes, then exhaust near bottom of terrarium would be good.

IF No, then exhaust anywhere would be good, so long as your getting good air flow IN/OUT.

I might also suggest the idea of using an aqaurium air pump for air exchange VS manually fanning it out. First its much more automated, second it "should" help keep out contams..
