This seems a lot like my own view.

Quote:

If I have to be alone
Then I should make my mind serene
After all you're born alone, you die alone
You might as well spend every moment in between alone

If you gotta do it alone, you dont have much choice, you might as well make it the best you can, when all you got is your mind, making peace with your mind is the only peace in loneliness.

Quote:

But if I have to be alone
Then it will be on my own terms
I can never talk about it, ever show it
Even though the world is watching while I squirm alone

if this must be true than i will make my life the way i want to live, but i cant ever break my face, for on the inside the pain swims inside of me.

Quote:

And your bleeding heart friends say, "Isn't it sad?"
Then they go make love
While you go insane. Insane!
It drives you mad! Mad!

your friends say it sucks to be alone, but then they go to where you are not. They are not alone. All this time the thoughts swim in your head, making you crazy.

Quote:

My mind, I love my mind
And if no one can feel the same
I'm a computer with a name
And I've got no one else to blame
If I have to be alone

your made to think that since you only love your thoughts that you are unfeeling, but what are you to say if you are going to be alone? What other love is there?

Quote:

And if nobody understands
That special creature that is me
And if they fail to see the me I see
Then no one else knows truly what it is
To be alone

If they cant understand what the situation is like for me in what i see is loneliness, than no one can see what it really means to be alone. To be alone is to accept this, to deny it would be to deny understanding of being alone.

Quote:

Maybe once in a lifetime you lose your will
Then you can let down your guard
But they cower in fear. In fear.
It makes you ill! Ill!

After you have given up your will for loving the mind and someone comes into your life, they see what is you, to be alone, and they are scared. Cause they see what it is to be alone. But they cant stand it, so they run away from you. "It makes you ill"

Quote:

My heart, my burning heart
And if no one will quench the flame
I'm not obliged to do the same
And then they'll have to share the blame
Because I have to be alone
Because I have to be alone
But I don't want to be alone

The aching heart yearns for love, but if no one can stand to look at the loneliness and see I wont make the effort to see quell their yearning lonely heart.
They will suffer as i suffer from being alone. but its so paradoxical, cause i dont want all of this, i dont want to be alone. But if i gotta be alone...

Sounds like the story of my life and love, at least from what i understand. I hope that is an interpretation. I did it from my perspective, cause i can connect with it so much. Maybe the intention wasnt the same

Is it how people dont reach out? They dont try to understand through all the haze? They dont see a common ground? So they gotta be alone..

lol, whats sad is, that made me sound like a real asshole. What i said... not what you said.

But i guess it depends on how you look at it, i guess i didnt see the intention. I just interpreted it on how it applied to me. Like i said, o well, maybe i figure out what he wanted to see by making this thread. I await to see what his remarks are  .

I think interpretations are character revealing.  See my first interpretation. I'm so noble.

You should post another song. As an added challenge, post some lyrics that aren't by Todd Rundgren, or not.

MM: I "found" the correct (as in what Todd actually meant) when I bought the video and he explained it.

Well, this brings up a good point (not sure if it was intended).

Obviously, you weren't aware of his intentions PRIOR to watching his video explanation. Though there were countless other interpretations, there was only ONE intended interpretation. So I suppose the best source for explaining someone's intentions behind a statement IS the same person responsible for uttering it. Whether or not one can trust this person to be honest about their intentions is an entirely different story.

That is why I ask specific questions without assuming what a person is saying or intending.

Not in accordance with recent events. This must be something brand new.
