they are doing weekly announcements of new civilizations again
Hungary up first
the mechanics for bonuses in levying military from city-states is interesting; have not personally done much of that aside from the Nan Madol one for the "Army Of Cthulhu" achievement

Have to on higher difficulty levels. God, just reading this I feel like playing again at King level which I always play on now and have not beat even with over 550 hours played on Steam. Trying to wait till February when the new expansion comes out. I seriously bought a gaming laptop instead of a console, which I bought a month ago, for this game.
As I have played it since the 2nd one. Was interesting to have someone post about the first one. Am old, but not that old.

Am also mostly trying to wait for the new expansion, but recently did a space race victory as the Cree just to scratch the civ itch am looking forward to a number of the mechanical changes and the natural disasters; was trying to play my most recent round with an avoidance of deforestation to prepare for the global warming mechanic
this week's civ announcement/preview is for the Maori
Really interesting change to the early game, starting out at sea with tech bonuses rather than being able to found in place and start building from turn 1 do not see myself playing as them too early on after release tho

Always suck when I start on a ocean ship space/tile. They said they fixed it, I am just glad they updated the main menu to restart where one feels like they have a good chance. Near a mountain and food and machinery.
This will be interesting. This expansion. Looking forward to it but will see the reviews on it. Think it will be good though.

Canada finally announced yesterday as a formally released Civilization
Like that they gave us the ability to make better use of Tundra hexes; should make for interesting rivalries against Russia also love the hockey rink as unique improvement and Mountie as unique unit

I have a modded Canada civilization for V. They get an extra delegate in the Congress and their allies do to. Pretty fu . I forget their special units.
I am happy to hear they brought back the world Congress.

Yeah, World Congress was a big aspect of play in Civ 5 that went missing in 6 so it is nice to have it back
have run modded Canada in Civ 5, but in Civ 6 my capital city is always renamed 'Canadaville' it is nice to see my country get representation from the publisher rather than just mods tho Russia is honestly likely still better for my overall playstyle, like building faith and playing religious and Canada does not really get that angle
also the inability to declare surprise wars will totally screw over my whimsical warpaths in the early game

Stream of play as Canada
gives some insights into use of the World Congress, new rock band units, some visuals of natural disasters and counters (ie: using a dam to block river floods)
World Congress as a way to send migrants to or from different civs and mess with their loyalty rock bands as a function of faith interests me for playing religion-heavy but not actually pursuing the religious victory -- good adaptation of faith being applied toward Diplomatic victory

Lol. Yes, Canada is an actual country. Defended by the U.S. and such a French military. No disrespect, but looking at history, political figures and military, no.

That is prolly why they gave Canada bonuses to generation of diplomatic favour for the World Congress update a good portion of the playstyle is likely going to be manipulating the AI against one another through friendly favour trades as opposed to getting into the nitty-gritty yourself, invite Teddy Roosevelt in and let him fight the war for you

Never got why in the new one is only Teddy Bear. Founder of our National Parks. Glad for him. Can we destroy Mexico and further down already. Such a great place to go visit.
But it is all on American drug abuse. Right. Let us go to Juarez! Sounds like fun, who wants to make a travel plan? I have been to Ensenada and in between. How fucked up is it? Guess they will just keep Spain and Catholics to fuck Native Americans and turn it into the cesspool it is. Third world countries and value of life is nothing.
There is a reason they make no Mexican leader as well.

The National Parks prolly play a role in their leader choice, they seem to have wanted to have Parks be fairly significant for the tourism game that is also part of what makes the Canada and US AI compliments interesting; Canada gets bonuses when helping defend in US lands because US AI is programmed to prioritize parks
would not be surprised to see a second US leader implemented with different bonuses and AI, similar to how they went back and added a second for India there is a number of weeks between now and launch, and if they are announcing a new leader each week that seems like a lot of new Civilizations if they were to go that route + there is the whole thing with the Rough Rider unit specifically being tagged as a US unit "when Theodore Roosevelt is leading" that may suggest they have intent to program another leader in with a different unique unit included
but yeah, Aztec civ sits over the realm of modern Mexico similarly they chose a First Nations Cree leader which covers Western Canada on the True Start Earth map setup

This week marks the return of the Inca
like that they made a civ that benefits from mountain tiles have had some interesting games with really well-formed defensive mountain ranges it will also be interesting to be able to tunnel through them -- in Civ 5, Carthage could do something similar by building roads through mountain ranges

After a couple weeks break, this week is Mali
financial desert civ; seems like there may be interesting implications for late game being able to thrive in harsh climate would imply capacity to pump up emissions and screw over other civs

I'm glad you are another civ fanatic.
I am a huge 5 fan, but didn't play 6 due to lack of the world Congress. Now that they brought back the Congress, I want to get into 6, but I need a new computer.
5 runs perfect, but 6 doesn't do well for me.
I decided to hold off on the computer and bought the now outdated x box 360 and a shit ton of games. I have been getting all my games for $2.99 - $10.00.
Hah, they even made a civ for 360, but it's an insult to the civ series. It was watered down crap.
Anyways, how is the new world Congress? Fun?

They also put Civ 6 onto the Switch console there was a fair bit of frustration among players over that receiving focus before the final expansion new World Congress is not yet in playable -- expansion lands on Valentine's Day am kind of surprised they have not been introducing a bunch of new female leaders so us nerds will have Waifu options for release day

I kind of became upset how they made the leader choice for every country (at least in 5) one sex. I liked civ 2 when you could pick male or female and it would adjust the name of the leader for you.
Ever play 2?

unfortunately no, 3 was my first exposure to the series but 4 was when it became the excess of thousand hour obsession got into 5 late; played a bit when it came out but the change to hexes and single-spot culture growth from 4 was a sour spot combat did become more strategic by spreading units back out from 4's doom stacks tho but only ever went back close to before 6 was announced and put in about 500 hours
mostly like having a bunch of female leaders as potential AI tho more likely to give them favourable trades, join them for wars, and make alliances have had a number of my games effectively devolve into girls vs. guys through careful AI manipulation am sexist as hell in playing, but was inspired to it by an achievement unlocked as Poundmakeer in my first game on the previous expansion they briefly had a personality trait in game where leaders would be sexist and it popped up on Gilgamesh (already preprogrammed to favour his friends) in my game so he wanted to be my friend on Poundmaker from being the awesome guy with dreadlocks, and kept throwing tantrums over female leaders unlocked an achievement tied to having a level 3 alliance with Gilgamesh called Bromance since then, like to make a league of powerful ladies to run the world
so the World Congress update will help that -- maybe we can lock down Mali so they don't turn the world into a desert for their bonuses

Hah!
Gilgemeah. That's funny. A sexist leader.
That actually makes it pretty interesting.
Does that still exist?
