PC petri dishes?
    #23206021 - 05/09/16 01:01 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Quick question for y'all..

I have a lot of extra petri dishes from class. I bought some agar to try my luck with doing some agar experiments this summer. I'v read the Pasty's easy agar tek using those plastic containers he suggests. Can I PC petri dishes w/agar? Anyone done that successfully?

If not, I'm gona use the plastic containers listed in his tek.
Any input helps, Thanks.

If they are the disposable petty dishes they'll be made of crystal polystyrene (PS), and will melt in the PC
You better stick to polypropylene (PP) containers.

There are some sterilizable pp5 petri dishes but they are ridiculously expensive, even more than glass if I remember right.

Edit:

Also, regular petri dishes are not good for no-pour teks like pasty's. You need a longer container for those due to boil over created by the pressure.
