My preasure cookers all came with an aluminum bottom that fis down in the bottom with holes in it. Usually when the water boils in the bottom the bubbles shake the jars alot, which could cause cracking. It may be ok, but I myself would suggest putting something in the bottom. cut an insert from a chicken cage and set it on the bottom, make it square so you can bend the corners dow to elevate it a litle. I would`nt recomend a cloth.

A metal insert is prolly best but cloth works fine as well, just don't let it run dry or it will start burning.

We use nothing and our jars touch the bottom but the jars do not dry out!
