This drying method is garbage. Take it over to mycopia or Reddit or erowid where shit methods belong
lol this is so untrue i have been using a fan and descant for years where did u come up with this
I already knew that there was a difference of opinion on the topic, I think the issue of denaturing the enzymes that was derived from dehydrator dried mushrooms not turning honey blue? No one ever sources their info, but I have noticed a particular favor for straight air dried fruits among some. I've always air dried not because I hate dehydrators but because laying a screen on top of a fan and letting them sit worked and I never tried anything else. If it is true true that heat dried mushrooms retain more potency I'll just stick my box fan in front of the oven and put them in there. The faster dry...true. Heat is also usually a catalyst so....I dunno.

Okay so here's how it works.
Cubensis contain psilocybin and psilocin. Psilocybin is a much more stable chemical than psilocin; that is, oxygen and water are your foe. Psilocin breaks down very easily. The longer it is exposed to air and water, the more actives you lose. Then as the psilocybin breaks down into psilocin, you lose even more, albeit minimal compared to the loss of psilocin right out of the fruits. The sooner you remove the water from them, the sooner you lock in both alkaloids, and prevent your psilocin and psilocybin from degrading.
Long term storage should be dehydrator to a jar with a desiccant packet placed in the freezer, and when ready to dose remove them, let them reach room temperature, then close it back up and put it back in the freezer. You can store these for years this way.
Here's why you shouldn't fear dehydrators with heat.

Here it is!
Notice the temps listed 220C - 228C, That's 428F - 442F and it's the melting temp only. If you take a solid and raise it's temp to its melting point, it becomes liquid. Return that same liquid to it's solid temp and... you get the same original solid (it is not destroyed) So... Psilocybin IS NOT DESTROYED at temps as high as 442F
Notice the temp for Psilocin, and that it is only measured in Methanol. That is because in water... the oxygen molocules of the water would oxidize it and desrtoy it. (Not the heat) So... when you dry your shrooms, The active ingredients of Psilocybin and Psilocin are exposed to oxygen destroying the Psilocin but not the Psilocybin, no matter what the temp is.
Keep in mind that this only refers to the chemical form... not live mycelium.

I need to invest in one of those, I like the enormous space it provides, no more squished mushrooms

I found the 4-tray model off ebay for like 90$, not bad at all, and still has a lot of space. There's no way I'm spending 250$ on the full size model, I'm not made of money

I don't want to think about how much desiccant you are using to deal with that.
desiccant packets are great for keeping shrooms dry. I keep one or two in any bag with dry fruits. I also throw them in the dehydrator occasionally to make sure they are still effective.
Are you just buying new desiccant for every harvest? That's a huge waste of time and money.

This tek would have been good, if it was the 1990's.

Hows this work?

I used to just have 2 cheap models from walmart and when I would harvest, run em around the clock. I could get between a half pound and 10 oz dry outta one of them. Fruits would wait in the fridge in paper bags until their turn. When the dehydrators would burn out I would just return em to walmart and get new ones.

I always made sure to eat the bag after lol. Really tho my fridge would dry fruits right out. Others had the same experience. Fahtster used to do the same thing. I have heard that people in humid climates have damp fridges so I wouldn't recommend that for them, but I never had a problem with paper bagged fruits chillin in the fridge for 12 hours.
I used to store fresh stones like that as well. They would eventually dry right out but I never noticed any potency loss that way.

That sounds like a huge mess, waste of money, waste of time, and waste of effort... I'm way too lazy for all that shit.
