Contamination?

Hi, the other day I fished out a shoe box from the river. I thought I'd relay its contents, which were a picture and a note:
''' About three weeks ago I inoculated some BRF jars with some cambodian. About five days after inoculation, I checked for contams and found one jar with a little blotchy brown/ slightly red spot. It didn't outright scream contaminant to me, so I isolated the jar with the intention of letting it grow out.
So it's now three weeks later. Colonization has been very slow (for all the jars, not just this one). The blotch doesn't appear to have grown in this time, but I can't be 100% sure as I didn't record its size (figuring any growth it would have would be obvious to spot).
So anyway, does this look like contamination? If I had to bet, I'd say it was, especially since it's located near the needle site by the looks of where the mycelium is growing. But I'd appreciate some other opinions. If it is, should I be worried? Might the mycelium overtake it? Could I just gouge the spot out after the rest of the cake is colonized without consequence? Thanks for any input '''
Here's the picture:

That's one of the more creative deferences of guilt I've seen on here in years. Congrats!
But it won't save you.

No, it's what really happened. I swear.
But anyway, is there truly no hope?

How would you know where the needle went in if it's not yours?
I'm a bit colorblind so I can't say for sure, but it does look like it could be contaminated. Is this the only cake you have?
Hopefully someone else will chime in soon and confirm this for ya.

Thankfully no man, the note said something about having eleven other peachy looking jars. But no cake left behind!
Anyway, an update from a second shoebox: ''' The mycelium is encircling the blotch, not growing though it. At this point it almost definitely has to be a contam. The question is now that should the mycelium overpower it and finish up the jar, would it be ok to crumble into a bulk (minus the blotch, of course)? '''

I doubt that will happen, it's better just to toss it. Too bad it's not summer, when I used to grow cakes and they would contaminate, I'd mix them outside with some manure and still get a crop. Nature tends to hold the infidel contam at bay...
Hopefully you have some other colonizing jars!

Just an update for posterity:
The last shoebox I received informed me that the jar did in fact end up a success! It was crumbled into bulk along with the other jars and a successful monotub was produced.
And just to further comment, I can remember reading in another post somewhere that the blotch may just have been a normal discoloration of the BRF (due to moisture content or something? Indeed, the jars all in all were moister than is preferred).
So that's that. Future reader, should you have the same type of blotch on your own jar, you may want to consider waiting for further development before tossing it.

The mycelium may grow over your contaminant, but it doesn't make it go away.
You should send a note upstream telling this person to make sure they're following the tek properly; proper ratios, sterilizing the jars, dry verm layer and everything. Tell him widemouth are much easier to inoculate, and that over 1/2 pint often contaminates before colonization. 1/2 pint widemouth jars are the best for this. Also tell him, that he may need to start inoculating in a SAB if this doesn't help. If none of this helps, send him another note saying he may need a new syringe.
Then send him a note saying that it's stupid to do all this SWIM, pet, and note business because it's all flimsy in court. This site has pretty good security anyways, and it just makes for convoluted questions and answers.
