Yep. If it's super hard to break apart, it's not a great sign.

Ok.. I had some jars that were hard to break apart, but it's because they were allowed to colonize way too long. Turned out fine, took a bit longer to pin though, especially the PE.

Oysters are really aggressive colonizers, I had to get mine out with a fucking tablespoon.

I had this chunk in one of my spawn bags of TKSSS. I just busted it up and mixed it in with my bulk sub. It's doing pretty good at the moment. I've got one area in question that is possibly myc piss/Bacteria battling it out but it's still moving along. I'm not going to argue it may be a problem at some point but until then don't lose any sleep over it. In the future isolating on agar is probably the way to go to avoid potential problems like bacteria. If I had the supplies I'd be doing it already.

Thai Koh Samui..with an added SS for "Super Strain" from the vendor.
It's currently in my own first grow/monotub. Have pics in the pics of the day forum.

Whatever works. Vendor sells it as TKSSS. He's a sponsor. It's doing great regardless.

Since we’re on the topic of B+ and peculiar white stuff, I have a question that I hope doesn’t seem too monotonous; I started a few rye grain bags on Feb. 5, I’ve already colonized and received two flushes from two minitubs, but the other two bags are still colonizing, and are literally 85-95% done (temp fairly constant 72). What should I do with them? They look fine still, white, nothing brown or green or anything, no bad smell, just 3 months in… Should I break them all up inside the bag, and see if they pick back up, pick the uncolonized spot off and spawn the rest, use it for grain to grain, put it outside? I just know that if it’s this slow, it may not have the best genes. Much appreciated.

Won't tell you what to do with your stuff but I'll throw a couple things to consider your way.
Why try to spawn something that's done so much more poorly compared to the spawn bags you've had success with already?
If it's performed that poorly in your spawn bags are you willing to risk it performing that poor using it for bulk?
The longer something in this hobby takes the greater the chances of something going wrong in most cases. If it moves that slowly in your spawn bags it'll probably be just as slow in a tub. If it were me I'd toss em at this point. Just my opinion though.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too; slow, bad genes will only cause unnecessary headaches down the road. I may still try to throw it outside, for the shit of it. Maybe in/under my compost pile? Unless that's pointless. I'll read up on outdoor techs and such. Thanks

went to the vendor's page and this is what it says:
Quote:
Thailand Koh Samui Cubensis which has now been renamed the Koh Samui Classic so there is no confusion with the Koh Samui Super Strain.
Its KSSS. Just so people don't look at you weird when you add that T on there. And being a sponsor here simply means you pay money - it doesn't add any kind of credibility or anything. We have sponsors that are straight scams. I mean, growkits are sponsored here, ffs.
