pf cake study questions
    #23194949 - 05/06/16 09:30 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

A fully colonized and consolidated pf cake is placed into fruiting conditions and receives humidity, fresh air, and light, but remains dormant for more than 2 weeks. This is the closest to what the cake looked like at the time:

It was observed that the cake appeared to have a matte type of texture with a slightly off yellow color in some spots, but remained looking otherwise healthy and smelling fresh. The cake was thought to be dry, so it was dunked for 18 hours and placed back into fruiting for another 2 weeks, with only signs of tiny superficial pinning.

The cake was then rinsed, cut in half, and placed back into jars, and within 3 days there were signs of healthy looking pins.

What would increase the chances of the cake absorbing moisture and prevent it from drying out?

Does the temperature and air exchange have an influence on the cakes ability to absorb moisture?

Is there a point where too much air exchange can compromise humidity?

:havesomescience:
Just roll 'em. Roll those bitches in verm, it serves as a growing platform for better pinset and it creates a humid environment on the surface of the cake, where it matters. Also, build a shotgun fruiting Chamber and you won't have to worry about FAE and humidity.
