First grow questions.

First of all, let me express my greetings to all of you! I've been lurking and learning from this site for quite some time. This is my first post and I appreciate all of the feedback I might receive. So let's do this shit.
This is my first grow and I have some questions I would like addressed.

Pictured above are my 1/2 pint jars 2 weeks in today. In hindsight I realize I should have purchased wider, shorter ones but you live and you learn. I am using the pf tek and this is the standard brf cake. (Except I ground up my own brf.) Also I packed them down too much. How are they looking? Are they colonized enough for 2 weeks? Too moist? Too dry? I should note that a PC was not (and still is not) available to me so i sterilized via boiling. Any feedback would help.
Secondly, let's talk about my fruiting chamber.

I am using a Styrofoam cooler with a hole cut out of the lid and Plexiglas over it for light. (I plan on doing a 12 on/12 off schedule.) It will be kept humid via an Ultrasonic humidifier connected through tubing near the top of the tank and the CO2 and excess moisture will be filtered out through a hole at the bottom of the tank. The cakes will be suspended from any water on the bottom with metal mesh. There is also a shitty temp guage/hygrometer for my personal feedback. I wanted my tank as automated as I could make it with my limited knowledge because I work a lot. Is there anything wrong with this setup? Will I still need to mist? Will I need more holes for FAE? Or would it just be better to start from scratch and build a SGFC?
Furthermore, is there anything else I should know about the pf tek or my gear? Thanks in advance everyone. I must confess that I bought much of this gear before I did most of my research but I've read up considerably since then.

You should build a SGFC for fruiting, it gives the best results with cakes. Simple is best, a tote with holes is a much simpler design than humidifiers and fans up the whazoo. Can't go wrong with it.
I might be seeing some bacteria problems in jar 3 but they all look fine overall. 1/2pints should be small enough so them being tall is not much of a problem. Large jars have a tendency to stall but those should colonize fine.

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, what makes you think there may be bacteria in the third jar?

Growing like cream. Bacteria is mostly invisible to us in jars so we look to the signs the mycelium gives when it comes across it, like what you have there, metabolites, stalling or in grains, not recovering from a shake.

Interesting. Should I quarantine the jar to prevent spreading possible bacteria?

No, it cannot spread from jar to jar. Even when dealing with molds, the filter on your jar is enough to keep the spores contained inside.
Edit:
I would still fruit that cake by the way, bacteria isn't as ruthless as molds so it might still fruit.

Ahh ok, my next question was going to be if the mycelium could overcome the bacteria but you just answered that for me.

So depending on the success of this project I might move on to a monotub grow. What's the best tek for a noob to follow and what's the estimated start up cost?

You should read a lot of teks and see which will work out for you the best. There's a lot of personal preference with bulk. There is no "best" grain for example, the best one would be the one you can get for cheap and is easy for you to prep. Starting with coir for bulk is a good idea though because it is very contam resistant so if you get contamination while usig it, you can assume it was already in your grains. You also don't have to properly pasteurize coir so that is one less thing to worry about fucking up.
For start up cost it will vary greatly on what you intend to use and what you have on hand. Country you live in will also make a huge difference. For the most part if you live in the US, it shouldn't be expensive as supplies are really cheap there compared to other countries.
