SAB or no SAB?

For jars with self healing injection ports would it be better to just do them open air rather using a SAB if the only option at this time is a cardboard SAB? The cardboard SAB ive made before is dusty.
Would you do it open air, or wipe down SAB with lysol wipes and use it?

SAB is better yes. SHIPs don't need to be used in a sterile environment though (flow good or SAB)
I will say though a SAB is the most important thing besides agar for growing cubensis

I used a cardboard box for like, 9 months or so. I had two holes for my arms and a window with taped on film. It was fine, really. It was only the visibility that annoyed me after a while, as film isn't crystal clear. But I agree with Bodhi, it may work, but it's not worth the risk IMO.

For a guy who took a long time off this hobby... Then couldn't get a jar going to save his life... The still air box was life changing! It is a very simple addition to make too.
I don't have a nice SAB, but something is better than nothing. I've found this to basically aid in taking me from not getting any jars off the ground to getting my last 50 without losing one
(take into account some of them were from moisture, pressure cooker, spore source when I lost jars)
However, even a very basic SAB for someone like me who is just getting back into figuring out which way is up... This was great:

Why the hell is Wonka hiding that in his journal? I should move it to the boards just to mess with him. It's too damn easy to make an SAB. No one should not have one.

It's funny you mention this. BuddhaKing shared this link with me which I found incredibly helpful (also read about your Pasty Plates -- am waiting on agar in mail to try this btw)
Link
That link he shared had tons of very helpful stuff including the Wonka SAB TEK. Though, I would have never just found it without BK sharing it with me. I also had a hard time finding this without going back to the thread BK shared this link as it doesn't come up in search easily.
I think it would be very nice for more people to see this though. It was a big difference maker for this re-noob. My appreciation to folks like you, Wonka, BK, Cron and many others. Everyone has been so helpful.

I will do that! Thanks!!! It's amazing how much new stuff there is. My last time doing this hobby was 2002. Catching up and trying to catch on to all of this has been fun.
