My All American Leaks Steam From The Sides. Pressure Takes Forever

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but my AA PC is very finicky, and has a hard time achieving 15 PSI because of steam escaping the sides. So it takes forever for pressure to rise because of that.
I PC'ed some EasyPlates tonight. First time steam kept escaping, I turned the stove off to try and re-do the lid. Gave it a quick clean around the rim, and a new coat of vaseline. Did my best to evenly tighten the nuts, but still, steam escaped the second time as well. =(
It took it forever to get it to 13 PSI, which is usually when my weight starts spinning, meaning it's actually 15 PSI. Anyhow, I timed the 45 mins from there, since the steam escaping was preventing the weight from indicating proper PSI. From the gauge I knew I was there, but had to keep the burner on max (gas stove) to keep it there.
Tomorrow I'm going to lubricate again, and do test runs with only water and see if I can fix it.
Anyone else have these kinds of issues with their AA?

Do you line up the arrows? Have you ever dropped the lid? Have you ever run it dry? I never lube my pc's and they did leak out the side when they were brand new, but not anymore

Clean the build up on the seal and be sure to not use too much lubricant. Vaseline is best IMO. Mineral oils are crap.

I've never dropped it. Yes to the arrows lining up. Yesterday before the second try, I cleaned the residue with a sponge that also has the green scrubby side. Lots of dark came off, and then I applied Vaseline. The PC was still got, so the Vaseline went liquid, so not sure if that is good or bad
The only time it ever (started to) run dry was when I did my grain jars two weeks ago, and that's because it was leaking so much fucking steam it took forever to get to 15 PSI.
That said, I think it only ran dry at the very end of the cycle, because I did keep hearing a hiss etc. So I was surprised when I opened it up and only saw moisture, and no actual water.

You need to lube the seal and put on the before it gets hot. Otherwise it's just going to run off which is useless.

How old is it? Has it always leaked? If so, I'd suggest contacting all american for support

It's probably 5-7 years old. It's always been a bit finicky with the seal. I thought it was me just not getting the lid straight, or not enough Vaseline or something.
It's funny though, If I remember correctly, if I left the wingnuts only very slightly tightened, and brought up the PC pressure up real slow, it seemed the lid would lock in real good and then not lose steam. I'll try that tonight after maintenance.
I only got back into this stuff after a 3 year break, so I am remembering these things slowly.

I sent All American an email. Not sure what they can do other than tell me the same things you guys did.
Shipping it to them would be a nightmare in term of price/logistics since I am in Canada.
I just hope I am successful tonight.

Update:
I tried again. Cleaned the rim again, Vaseline, Line up the arrows, tighten the nuts in pairs, put on high heat, let the vent steam for 5 mins, add the weight, and within a short period of time (10-12mins) I got to 15 PSI with a solid seal.
If there's one thing maybe I forgot in all the other times that I had the seal problem was lining up the arrows. I always made sure those metal "U"s were under the wingnut area, but I don't think I always made sure to line up the arrow with the dimple on the pot.
False alarm for FalseMaria

glad you solved that. remember to vent the steam for ten minutes!

Always line the arrows up. That way it will fit the same way all the time

I've had to focus on getting the lid perfect. For normal pressure cooking (within 15psi) its reasonably easy to get a good enough seal, though there are times when I got leaks from not setting it on right. And then when I started running it higher than 15 psi it would leak if the lid wasn't on perfect, once it higher than like 40-45psi. So for that reason I spent time trying to figure out how to get the lid on perfectly with the least amount of effort. This is what I do now-
I put the lid on, lined up properly with the arrow, attend to two opposing wingnuts at time, turn the pc so the 2 wingnuts are at your 9 & 3 o clock, and lean over and visually get the lid surface parallel to the pc surface using a little tension on both lug nuts to adjust and hold the position, then turn the pc to get two more opposing wingnuts at 3&9 o clock and repeat until all lug nuts have tension and the lid is visually as flat is possible. Once you have a tension on all wingnuts and the lid is as flat as you can get it, start increasing tension, equally, 2 opposing wingnuts at a time, switching to another pair after one turn, until they are all finger tight.
My lid does not naturally sit perfectly flat onto the pot, so if I where to put on the lid, and then tension all the wingnuts equally, the final position will be about linear to its starting position. Sounds complicated, isn't, takes very little time/effort, and since I've started doing this, it seems that I don't even have to get the wingnuts super tight, and I get no leaky leaky.
Hope that helps.
