This is the tek ive planned to go with. Lets hope all goes well. And that makes me nervous you said you only pulled 20 from a mexicana strain.

My newb mistake with Jalisco was to make 5 LC variants, none of which actually produced any mycelium.

From Stonesun's threads, the best sclerotia variety within Mexicana is the 'A strain'.  Jalisco will bear very nice fruit and some stones of high quality.

ATL7 is a freak stone producer. Workman's masterpiece by the looks of it

G2G on 18th. Originally germinated mid March

2nd G2G from same master a week later

1 transfer from master to groats 4/16

And a shot of Ps.Tampanesis.  6 weeks old

This species is quite prolific too, although it's maturing at half the rate for stone production.

ATL7 is said to be the weakest out of the 3 for actives though, but crazy bulk.

Hmm, you may be right. I always though the P. galindoi variety ATL7 was Atlantis #7

The ATL lettering did stand for atlantis, and it was sold as Psilocybe atlantis ATL#7. It was then found out that it was not atlantis but the code stuck.

Just to be clear there are no Psilocybe atlantis spores or stones currently on sale.

Lots of sclerotia growers got the spores years ago and have not bothered to change/correct the name. So all are the same ATL#7. Just clearing this up since reading the other posts might make you think you could be able to buy both species.

There were other ATL# numbers too, see here. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/4123889

This is the current info on sporeworks page.

Quote:

Initially, this sample was described as Psilocybe atlantis and we assumed that was correct since no similar species were known in Georgia. Samples sent to Psilocybe expert Gaston Guzman cast some doubt on the mushroom's actual identity, but no alternative identification was suggested.

A direct comparison of samples with the published description of P. atlantis has confirmed Guzman's findings. The strain ATL#7 is not Psilocybe atlantis but is instead a related species in the Section Mexicanae. This new collection closely resembles Psilocybe galindoi (galindii), a species previously known only from Mexico. For lack of a better name, we are going to unofficially call this sample Psilocybe galindoi var. Georgia. If this species is described in a scientific journal and given a different name, we will amend this description. Efforts are now underway to provide authenticated spore samples of Psilocybe atlantis.

I believe you mean ATL #7. Atlantis is another kind of mushroom.

Hmm, you may be right. I always though the P. galindoi variety ATL7 was Atlantis #7

Psilocybe Atlantis and Psilocybe Galindoi (ATL 7) are indeed different. If you're interested in reading more about that https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7854539/fpart/1/vc/1

Thanks for clearing that up!!!!

So i cant find gypsum anywhere it seems either. All the chain stores are 30 miles plus from the house so i try and avoid going that far unless necessary. I have a bag of bone meal. Can i replace the amount of gypsum with that of bone meal?

There's lots of ways to get Calcium, but Sulphur is why gypsum is mentioned constantly.  Unsure the breakdown of bonemeal minerals.

Farm and garden stores typically stock it.  So more rural than supermarket.  Although Home Depot etc carries it. Do some searches and calls first, if it seems elusive.  Easier than burning time and gas!

You can dry out and powder eggshells, not as readily available to the fruits as Gypsum, but effective

Can't find too many references here regarding bone meal.  Mainly discussing it as an additive to compost.

I would not use the likes of bonemeal or any manures in sclerotia grows.

Gypsum is used in homebrewing, you might have a local store or could find a homebrew club or something. Also used to make tofu. Its called calcium sulfate/sulphate, a local pharmacy might have it, or could order it in, just tell them its for brewing wine.

I would prefer foodgrade gypsum for sclerotia grows too.
