Clone Tek Question

I was reading up on Cloneufc's Easy Cloning Tek and was wondering if instead of letting it recover in a ziplock bag, if you could simple transfer the tissue straight to a petri dish or jar of sterilized grain. Also I've never grown from a clone, so what can I expect as far as fruiting? Will there be more even pin sets that mimic the exact fruit I choose to clone? I'd like to get wall to wall flushes like many of the TC's get and am also working on a B+ isolate ATM. (Still transferring on petris)

I typically clone straight to agar w/out issue. Just peel the fruit in your SAB and take a scraping from the stem. Your clone very likely will still have varied genetics, so you may get a more even pinset, but you can't guarantee what grows unless you isolate those genetics. That said, clones are more likely to produce similar fruit.

Thank you for answering everything so quickly! I'm about to harvest that one and do it here in a few hours, I think I'll do two transfers to petris, just in case. I will def still be working on the isolate but the clones producing similar fruits seems even more appealing as I've read not all isolates will perform. Thanks once again!

You should always transfer the tissue sample to agar, never directly to a grain jar. Don't let it recover in a bag, that's just

Normally, it's always a good idea to pick the sizeable mushroom from a good looking cluster. As to what to expect, you'll never really know until you test it. FYI there's also the possibility of taking the phat-ass pin from a nice cluster and put it directly on agar. At least that's what I prefer to do

Probably the most important piece of information in this thread.

LMFAO - I love that GIF.
I went ahead and transferred to 2 different agar plates. Here is the beauty I chose:

The faht pin idea is actually quite awesome, I'm going to use that idea for my next clone. Ty all for chiming in! Just what I needed.

Guess I've been the devil's advocate lately, but.... https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20964499/fpart/all/vc/1
op, tissue to agar is your best bet. Though I've successfully followed the tek you're using many times

Damn Azur, nice!
I think I will take two pins next flush and do one to grain and the other to agar. Just for my own experimental sake. But it's nice to see some validation! You peepz are simply the best. I need to become a member. As soon as the money comes in...
Ty both a lot. I never thought to use a pin. What do you look for in your pins to transfer or does it even matter? It's hard to judge the full potential of a shroom simply by the pin size sometimes.

It's definitely doable, my first LC was made with a clone. I didn't have agar yet as it was still being shipped so I just dropped a clone inside the LC and hoped for the best. I didn't realise how lucky I was that it worked until I started making more LCs. I had LCs contaminate with mold without ever being opened .
