I read ingredients on stuff too, but usually only when I'm on the throne...
I understand computer theory better than most I know.. application of that theory is something completely different tho

Read ingredient lists on cans, packages, and containers of food.
Oh am I ever guilty of that one...
A few of my own:
Dissassemble something, anything, then reassemble it...then dissassemble it again in case I missed anything. Read warning labels on anything I come accross. You know...just in case the water-heater explodes it's good to know why it exploded

me personally, I am a psychic and mindreader, so sometimes I like to go to the mall or Dairy Queen and tell random people what they are about to be thinking to see if they will try to think something else instead.

Us INTP types prefer conception over experience. Almost to the point of completely ignoring experience, actually.
Thus reading the manual is almost more fun than using the equipment

Much worse is when your gaze happens to be on another person. You aren't really seeing them (too deep in thought)...but they don't know that.
People, for some odd reason, don't like to be stared at

Reading labels is a pretty big thing for me. I started doing it as a kid, reading shampoo bottles while on the can. Food labels too, of course. I want to know what goes in my body!
When I'm sitting and thinking i tend to bounce one leg up and down really fast or shake my hand. I also have a habit of booty shaking to the most non-booty-shakeable styles of music.

Speaking of moving around, that reminds me: When I listen to music by myself in my room, I can't JUST listen to it. I have to get involved in it in some way, whether it be dancing, singing along, or both. And often when I'm singing along, I'll pretend I'm holding a microphone and act like I'm singing it onstage.

I will usually start laughing, chuckling to myself when im talking to people. Anthony, my co-worker, says its my "crazy laugh". josh always says something about it! And i laugh more, lol, Ill spill out random things, words i make up, like ambuwabawoo, and ill mess around with people using those words, usually when im messed up though. I just usually just do the laugh... ooo, and i like to make rhymes with whatever situation/mood im in, more like poetry though. There are so many i should have written down, probably could have made a good song... damnit! God damn loch ness monster!!!! (quoted from chef's dad (southpark))

I just thought of something. What exactly is "spare time" for a philosopher? I mean, philosopher isn't exactly a day job (unless you're a university professor), so I would think all time is spare time for a philosopher. But if it's all "spare" then there isn't really any spare time at all, because it's all regular time. And a philosopher's regular time should be spent thinking. Thus I would venture to say a philosopher thinks all the time and therefore has no spare time.

Well, I act differently with different types of music. If it's rock, I'll sing along and do the whole lead singer thing. If it's techno, I'll dance to it like I'm at a rave.

I'm not a philosopher, and I don't know if I do anything as weird as you guys do ( ), but something I do that is probably annoying is I like to figure out if someone is ADHD, and if so, are they VG or AH.
People think I'm obsessed about ADHD, and I probably am. I have it, and so do all my kids. I've studied it a lot, and the main reason I started trying to figure out life is because of ADHD.
People with ADHD are really smart, but they can "appear" fucked up. Why does someone who is so smart get classified as fucked up? Why are these people so smart? Why, if you are so smart, do you appear fucked up?
These are questions I ask myself and often times the things I am studying about life come back to ADHD and the different disorders of the brain that inherently belong to really smart people.

Funny thing about ADHD is this:
Everyone exhibits ADHD behaviors now and then. But ADHD people just exhibit them more often.
Losing things, forgetting what you went into a room for, procrastinating, being argumentative, being hyper, and the list goes on, and on, and on, depending on how ADHD you are, and depending on what type of ADHD you have, and whether you have the "H", of course.
I don't know you well enough to say whether you are ADHD. There is one symptom you display that could just be "you", but could be a sign of ADHD, and that is that you are sort of "oppositional".
Some people, maybe a lot of people, who have ADHD are oppositional. Will argue about anything. Will take an opposing viewpoint just for the fuck of it.
Again, this could just be "you". I don't really know you well enough. But that's what I do. I take things I see in someone, and I start adding them up. I'm usually right. Also, I haven't really read all your posts, I'm just going by gut instinct based on times when you have responded to stuff I've written on Christianity.
In my opinion, probably most of the people on this forum have ADHD. No, I don't think the "whole world" has it, but there are some pretty smart people here. I have found that the smarter a person is, the more likely it is that he/she will have ADHD. It's nature's way of balancing things out.

Sometimes i think it seems im being oppositional to you, when it may only be a few ideas. Ummm... I cant keep track of my thoughts? They just float along, like an endless process of self correction of logical errors in my brain.
But i sometimes i like my thoughts, i really dont know what happens when i post something. I just post what i think, my teachers always said i never listened. I think because i didnt agree with their ideas they always thought i was being a smart ass, or whatever. Hey, im just here learnin! trying to understand things for myself, i dont want to believe someone else just cause they say so, i want to know why they know what they know, and how it applies to other things of simmilar validity. If i cant get some kind of "ground" i feel lost, and my goes in circles, and i lose attention. and start doing things like "dum didee dum, gum tastes good with rum, i like to run, have no fun, be a hun and give me a hug"
Its easier for me, and much more comfortin, when people are down to earth, and can accept mistakes. Cause as soon as im able to understand my mistakes, the quicker i learn. The longer someone makes me feel bad for not understanding or sizing me up, the increasingly harder it becomes for me to stay on track and remember what i was trying to remember and learn.
This has been a big problem for me ehre and everywhere, too much input, some people its hard to just stay consistant in one thing they are doing. Like my art teacher, he was projecting arrogance, so my attention focused to his attitude instead of what he was "trying" to teach. He didnt even give me an answer, which gave me more reason to think he didnt know JACK.
O i got a story about jack, let me know if you want to hear about it sometime.
this crazy stuff would be crazy to make it like a picture

Well, see, based on what you just wrote, I would say you may be ADHD. Also, did you take the Asperger's test that I posted a while back? Try this, and let me know the results:
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html
You can PM me if you don't want to post your results publicly. And, of course, you don't have to take it.

Yes, MM put it in perspective. I'm not saying you are bad or anything. I know that you are just posting your thoughts. That's why I predicated my statements with "might" be ADHD, but that you might just be being you, and that it's just with regard to Christianity.

My mom always told me that my plays on words were a symptom of mental illness. Something else I am working on are puns to the second degree (read puns squared)
example
What is a comedy production performed on a stage made of dictionaries called? A play on words.

lol, no, dont feel bad for not responding. Its very hard for me to communicate with people about what i think or feel, often times im very burdened by emotional reactions, and its hard for me to form coherent responses when my emotions cloud my judgement.
Maybe i just remember all the bad experiences when learning in school, maybe its cause i had very little good experiences with teachers... *scratches head*
Strangely my most sound posts ive had on here have been when im drunk. My mind thinks fine, im just as happy as can be and no worries, the words just float out.
I think a large part of that has to do with trust issues, i wont usually open up to people i dont know too well, maybe i see them as a threat, but that usually keeps me from getting out the point. Its good you posted this! It makes me feel re assured. sometimes i just need that little nudge to know that im not alone, that someones their.

Along the same spectrum of "disorders" on which ADHD lies are disorders such as Autism, Aspergers, Bipolar, and Schizophrenia.
Generally, when you have a person with ADHD, you may also find some other, overlapping symptoms, from these other "disorders".
The test for which I posted the link is a test for Asperger's, which is considered a highly functioning form of Autism. It is thought that Einstein was both ADHD and Asperger's.
When you wrote that one post that prompted me to post the link to the test, you said some things that both an ADHD person and a person with Asperger's might have said.
A score of 17 doesn't mean you are definitely Asperger's, but it shows that you probably have some Asperger's symptoms, just not real strong symptoms. Also, since you scored 17, you probably are ADHD.
I scored 33 on the Asperger's test. I have been diagnosed as both ADHD and Bipolar II. I am "disordered", but I am really smart, too.

well, lets see...
I talk to myself constantly. I can put up with the internalized monologue when other people are around, but when I'm by myself I always want to speak out loud, like physically saying the words makes them more real somehow. Its also easier to analyze my thoughts that way, because I'm listening to them as I have them. Kinda like biofeedback, I guess. Well, its caused a lot of embarrasing situations, of course, because people do catch me sometimes.
I also zone out in monotonous situations and visit other realities I have concocted for myself as kinds of mental playgrounds. I have quite a few different realities with running storylines and charcters in them. Maybe I'll write them down someday, but I'd rather smoke pot, and no one wants to hear my crazy delusions anyway.
I also find myself mentally drifting from person to person in crowded places, seeing the world through other people's eyes. It is a strange experience which has left me scarred by many personality traits that do not belong to me.
sometimes I lay on my couch and let my cat sit on my stomach. I just stare up at the ceiling and do absolutely nothing for hours.
And i socialize with a lot of people that I really dont like, just so I can study their habits, and maybe plant a few seeds of my own . (Dont get me wrong, I do have quite a few good friends that are really great people and deserve recognition- thanks guys! you know who you are)

I talk to myself a lot, too. I've heard that's supposed to be some sign of insanity. Oh well.

I burst into random fits of scat and jibberish, but I never really talk to myself.

Yeah, I talk to myself out loud constantly when no one's around. No shit it's embarassing when people catch me, especially 'cause I also answer myself. It does seem to help me work out my thoughts, especially when I'm driving.
It probably is a sign of insanity, but I already know I'm fucked in the head, so fuck it.

Some poor sap was killed in his kitchen a month back when his blender exploded and the flying glass cut his jugular. How weird is that?
Should have read that warning label a few more times

I have the weird habit of decontructing sounds and thinking about how to go about creating them again in terms of sound design. Sometimes it will be so strong that in the middle of a conversation, I will hear a sound and start thinking about it, and will completely forget that I am being spoken to.
BTW Frog, I scored a 40 on that AQ test. I have been diagnosed with both Asperger's and ADHD and different times in my life, so I guess I should have expected a high score.

jpod, thank you for telling me that you have ADHD and Asperger's. I have a really unique brain, probably due to ADHD and Asperger's. There aren't too many people with this combined condition. I would love to chat with you some time.

I got a 24 on that test, and recently, I have been thinking I may have some sort of symptoms of ADD, I can't pay attention while I read, thoughts cloud my mind enough to the point where I'm reading and I'm just sort of saying the words in my head without paying attention to them whatsoever... I also in more than a few occasions find myself gazing at things around me, and fall into deep thoughts instead of listening to say, a lecture from the teacher.
I haven't been to a doctor or anything about it... I find that I can live with it, but my grades do suffer somewhat because of it.
Nice thread btw, Mr. Mushrooms.

Wow.. we are all crazy.
Saying weird shit out loud? Definitely. Less so when I'm around people that I probably wouldn't want to tend to.. but all kinds of shit. Even singing. All sorts of crazy and insane stuff comes out.
I've played out conversations before in my head. Oh ja. All sorts of "mental playgrounds", as Doctor J put it. hehe. I suposse watching the Simpsons every day doesn't help....
If I made the conscious decision to go insane, it wouldn't take very long. I've had to construct order out of the chaos... my thoughts are interconnected WAY too much. This can come out as play on words, or something, it just depends if I focus it on that... my mind is this huge fucking blob that can fit any mold necessary...
When I was younger, I had this thing. Going up and down stairs, I would set up a pattern. I don't remember exactly what I would do, but there was two different ones and I would alternate every time. Often I would have to stop before going up to recall which one it was time for...
My imagination is very powerful. I really want to get into writing scripts when I am older, like WAY older, when the music thing is done and I'm old.. I believe I could pull off some amazing stuff.
But basically I've been becoming more focused on reality and using it all to aid me in that.. it seems whenever I start to really float away, like towards bed time or whatever, people I am talking to start taking what I am saying for things that they aren't... I focus more on JUST my reality, and that is when I become more insane.
But I just like to think about all sorts of things... to most people, that would classify as "weird". Peace.
