Pick as they mature, or try for a single flush w/pics

These two trays started pinning in colonization mode. It was just about 3 weeks since spawning from BRF cakes to coir/vermiculite. It was time. Some of the shrooms are getting close to ready, probably by tomorrow I thinking??? Should I pick as they mature or pick everything at once as in first flush. If all at once some are going to be premature. Thanks in advance!

Pick as they mature. Those smaller ones still have steam. Those are pretty. Always let baby mushrooms grow. Please come back and show us how these turn out.

The open ones are done correct? Pick them if there open, or will they get bigger still? And bigger doesn't mean more content...

Pick the mature ones, especially the ones with broken veils. If the spores drop it will get messy and they will taste more pungent.

Hey man, nice looking trays. I'm assuming you broke up colonized brf cakes with coir, correct?
Could you briefly describe your process (# of cakes, amt of coir, etc).
Looks like you had great success and I'd like to give trays a try
Thanks!

Bsfurr, Thanks and yes brf to coir/vermiculite. I gave a lengthy description in my very first post, about a week ago. Took me awhile to have my own questions with all the info available. Long and short, 2 1/2 pint BRF cakes (crumbled in ziploc) to 75% coir 25% Vermiculite in 9 quart glad trays. Don't know if I would have added the 1/4 inch of unmixed coir on top again, but should help the PE I'm also doing. Off to my first Harvest!!!!

I ordered my coir online. It was a block, about 2' by 2'. I think half would have filled the entire room. It took a steriized saws all to get through it. Hard stuff!

That's awesome, man. Those look fantastic. I'm in the middle of my first grow, nearly 100 percent colonized brf jars... I wasn't sure if I wanted to spawn to a substrate, or fruit off the cakes, but this gives me some serious hope for fruiting them in a tray...
I bet it feels so good to see those puppies come up. Congrats.
