Well, last summer I did a bunch of popcorn but left the state for about a month and a half. When I came back, I had about 80 lbs of one to two month overcolonized grain. So I attempted to use it anyway. About half of it had bacterial infection (G2G) and had to be tossed, the other half I cased and kept getting cobweb or nothing. The mycelium was just to weak and could not be revived, it would not fruit.

However, I did get two casings to give me something...

It had an awsome pinset, probably cuz the mycelium was like thank God, F.C. but then realizing it was to weak to support itself, attempted, in a last ditch effort, to open caps to release spores. I'm still not quite sure what the cause of it was. I thought contam at first but then sort of said no. Then I thought they were just aborting cuz I was moving the containers around alot and not giving great F.C. (which my have been the problem) but over all I think it was the overcolonization becuase of my theory above.

That sounds like an interesting theory, but what is F.C.?

And as an update, the casing that stalled had a mass abortion. Every single pin aborted. The other casing only has about one third of it pinning, but it seems to be recovering. I'm hoping after I harvest and re-case the second flush will be better. Because right now I don't think I'm going to get more than a half ounce dry (and that's off of two six cake casings).

No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious.

Meow.
