Finally got my hands on this little gem,now I just need to wait for it gets vast enough to be used on my table
This plant is a nutrient powerhouse

What variety is that?
I have never seen purslane like that, looks really cool!

My country is literally carpeted with purslane but i think we only have one variety with flat leaves that spreads out on the ground as it grows.
A few years ago a found a different variety abroad, lighter in colour that grows upwards, more bush like and with even broader leaves, almost like baby spinach leaves.
I think its called Golden Purslane and i had completely forgotten i'd bought those seeds until i saw your post.
I'm gonna look for them and put them to germinate this week hopefuly i'm not too late.

Yeah,it is all over here as well,and it originated in Europe.
It's considered a weed,and everybody destroys it.
Now that I've learned of its nutritional content,I can 't find any to save my life,so iIhad to buy this one.

You won't see it on many tables this days specially with the younger generations that won't touch anything unless it came from a supermarket shelf, but we make soup with it.
I also like potato and purslane salad.
If they sprout i'll come show you some pics, maybe we can swap some seeds in the future.

Yeah,I know right,I'm trying to stay away from the supermarket,and all their poisonous laced foods,especially fruits and vegetables!
I can't wait tot try it,in a salad,and a soup,they say it tastes salty.
Yeah,let me know how your seeds turn out,and who knows,maybe we can trade somewhere down the line

They can be quite salty but not so much as they are acidic.
Just take a leaf and taste it, i love it.

Ooooh, post up some recipes, I would love to see a pic of a few dishes. Sad that in a world with so many hungry people a nutrient powerhouse would be considered a weed.

I agree totally,and since I'm a semi vegetarian,this is a good nutrient rich plant for me to consume that is full in omega-3 fatty acids

Damn,it seem like I have the wrong type
Portulaca oleracea is the one that contains all the nutrients and grows wild.
I have Portulaca grandiflora,and I have searched all night to no avail trying to find any information on the edibility of this plant.
I did find that it has medicinal qualities,but I need it for the nutrients.
This makes me very mad,and I have not been able to find the wild one,now that I know what it is now

I did find this on it,and it appears it's still quite useful.
The entire plant is depurative. It is used in the treatment of hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver with ascites, swelling and pain in the pharynx. The fresh juice of the leaves and stems is applied externally as a lotion to snake and insect bites, burns, scalds and eczema.
Leaves - raw or cooked. Seed - raw or cooked. It can be ground into a powder and used in soups etc, or can be added to cereals. The seed is very small and fiddly to utilize. Root - cooked.

Heat it up with a bit a beeswax or petroleum jelly pour it in a small jar allow to cool and you have a nice healing cream.

We have a red, orange, yellow-tinted, and just-plain, green variety, which have apparently gone feral, here, in the last twenty years.
I felt that happier ones taste like opuntia.
Burdened ones seem to have an oxalic note.
The soup is apparently made of Mexican green chili sauce, with tomatillos (sourish), and a cream.
