it's got in-vitro pins. time to birth =]

EDIT - has it sat for a week to consolidate since 100% colonization? if so, then it is for sure time to birth.

mine were at about 90% colonization when i started getting in-vitro pins, and i was told to go ahead and birth them. so I did. dunked for 24 hours, rolled in verm, and into SGFC. they fruited well and are on second flush now.

Yes, it's ready to be birthed. And yeah, it's pinning already.

Research "dunk and roll" before you birth it, it's worth it.

haha don't worry, I'm sure next time around you'll do better. You should watch the "let's grow mushroom" series on pf tek if you haven't already. It's rather failsafe if you follow it to the letter.

Watched video and it says to submerge fully in water for 24hrs .  I read the dunk and roll tek posted and it says to keep water below 40f . I dont recall mentioning of this in video. Room temp good or do i keep putting in fresh cold water?

Any suggestion on what to fruit a single cake on? Lol.

Yes. There are various alternatives but I'm gonna tell you one.

-Instead of rolling, remove the dry verm layer and only do the dunk and after that put the cake back in the jar.
-Once in the jar add a new dry layer of verm on top of the cake, no need to roll the entire cake for this.
-Get a sprayer, fill it with tap water and give the verm a good spray, kinda soak it down.
-Get a clear plastic or glass jar big enough for the jar to fit inside well. Ditch the lid of the bigger jar/container.
- With a box cutter or sharp knife, cut the top part of a 2 litre cola bottle and fit it snugly on the jar like this

-Leave the cola cap loosely screwed or remove and stuff the cola bottle neck with pollyfill.
-Mist the surface of the cake when it looks dry as per the tek and after the first flush dunk again and fill the cake jar with a finger of tap water once you see the second-flush pins coming out, if the water is not consumed in a week or two, just get it out of the jar.

Optional: you can add a layer of damp perlite in the bigger container and sit the cake jar on it, but I don't think you really need it.

Yes, but only if the mason jar is clear enough to let light pass.

See if you can expand it now, pic courtesy of Pastywhyte btw.

Also, cut the bottle much shorter than in the pic.

actually the jar itself could be any colour under the sun as long as the humidity dome (plastic bottle) is clear to allow light in.

Seems about right  Just make sure that the pop top can fit snugly and remember to cut it much shorter than in the pic. You don't really need to screw the cap, just leave it loosely on the bottle neck.
