Colonized grain jars producing a lot of liquid
    #23182067 - 05/02/16 09:34 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

A couple of my grain jars are producing quite a bit of liquid.  They don't look contaminated, just some oxalic acid.  They've been colonized for a good while now, unfortunately I couldn't prepare and inoculate them all at once so some are further along than others.  I just inoculated my sixth jar two days ago.  Is this water/liquid harmful in any way?  I put two of them in the fridge to slow down the metabolism of the mycelium while the 5th and 6th jar colonize.

I dont understand are you using these jars to inoculate more grain?

From my experience any water build up in the colonizing grain jars is due to my neglect in prepping the grain properly, or bacterial infection of some sort. Remember, mycelium doesn't pee liquids, it only displaces them. Feel free to post a picture

Well if you leave a colonized spawn bag or jar for a few weeks sitting around as the myc digests the rye water will build up. If its just a little I wouldn't worry about it.
But I wouldn't use these jars for grain masters in G2G. Just spawn them

Yes when you let them sit around for a long time that water build up is stuff the mycelium has displaced and couldn't absorb if everything is healthy and free of contams. I wouldn't stress it either.
