Hyphal knots showing in the slowest jar...

hey guys, i discovered some knots in my slowest jar today. It has colonized around 50% of the jar. It was my first experimental jar where i messed up a little with the substrate and decided to still give it a shot (look at this thread). Should i birth it and cut off the other 50%? I am afraid removing the dry vermicullite might damage the knots.

how long has it been since inoculation? is it still growing at a decent rate? or has it stalled? my first jars were half pint but instead of wide they were the tall ones. when they got to about 80-90% colonization, their growth slowed by a lot, and knots/pins started forming, and i birthed it and rinsed the uncolonized portions off. if it still seems to be growing at a good rate, i would wait. but if it starts pinning, then it is probably time to birth it.

this one jar has been inoculated around 18 days ago. It is not growing as fast as my other jars. But i knew that from the beginning because the substrate was too compact and it was a Just For Fun Jar. I inoculated my other jars (2nd try and better substrate) 2 weeks ago. And they have already colonized around 95% of the jars and they don't show any signs of knots. the jar with the knots is probably still growing but really really slow.

yes covered it with aluminum foil.
this is a jar from my 2nd try and the only difference is the amount of brf. And it is doing much better.
