Will spawn show mold if left alone long enough?

Hey all
So I dont usually ever see mold in my master jars. Actually I never see it in my spawn bags either after G2G. It usually only rears its ugly green head after spawn run and a few days into fruiting.
The way I understand it introducing fruiting conditions is what causes the mold to sporulate.
Recently I had to leave a dozen or so spawn bags sit around for a few weeks ( I know) while trying to wait out some fungus gnats. Tubs look clean so far, well see
But it raised the question, if I left spawn bags that are contaminAted with hidden mold sitting around long enough will they eventually show green , or other obvious signs of mold? Or will it usualy stay pretty hidden untill it gets FAE?
Just curious
Thanks!

I've seen spawn turn green before being introduced into fruiting conditions

Holy fuck nuts its stromrider. Long time no see man.
The answer to op's question is yes and no.
I have grown nothing but contams and have become my go to expert on all things I need advice on when growing everything except mushrooms.
I've had mold go green in jars and bags and I've seen it go green right before first flush. Here's my theory.......
I blame bacteria.
Let me clarify for the hazy lots out there. I don't really know.
Some mold sporelates quickly and can be seen invitro and some do so when presented with fae and such like mush myc. I believe a lot has to do with bacteria though if it pops up right before first flush and only in certain spots and not wide spread.
Theory is: Endospores survive pc but aren't yet growing. You inoculate, mych grows over grain and in that time frame endospores "wake up" and begin veg growth. Once you shake or break up by hand you have weakened myc already and the bacteria grows as much as it can on the particular grain making the myc weaker and any mold spores that got near that grain will be able to get a foothold.
Trich grows fairly rapid (and is mush myc parasitic) and if it got in when you inoculated then it's my belief that it would be widespread since we shake at 30%ish and maybe once again.
If the whole tub trichs out it was in from the beginning. If certain random seeming spots trich out I believe it to be bacteria based.

Not always. It's even possible for it to show mold and then look normal again. It really depends on the kind of mold. Some green molds are inhibited from sporulating by the overwhelming mushroom mycelium, especially after a g2g but will produce spores once it grows into the bulk substrate.

maddchef says he blames bacteria. I agree.
there is always a little bacteria in our spawn. left too long, it becomes a problem and compromises it. compromised spawn is open to competitor molds.

I have had penicillium sporulating invitro. Never trich tho. Hi Strom

I just re-read maddchef's post; lots of good info.
Warm temperatures, moist stale air will kill your compromised spawn / substrate.
I always have my best outcomes when fresh air is abundant. even more so with a weakened substrate. FAE is essential.

Ah you guys are the best! Really awesome replies!
Slowly but surely my mold situation has been improving although I knock wood as I say say that. It certainly got A LOT worse before it started getting any better, which was pretty discouraging. But by bombarding this forum with questions and pretty much throwing out a wide net following the full spectrum of advice its really been improving.
Ive been keeping a real close eye on my spawn, getting better at identifying problem bags but Im not quite confident enough to definetly pull them before spawning tubs
Hoping to avoid a second summer of mold!

This makes more sense to me now. I was kinda assuming that expanding my spawn would always = expanding my mold making it easier to spot
Actually the only time I have ever seen green mold in spawn after G2G was in my early attempts which were bad. And once at the top of my spawn from lid failure
