Mycelium or cobweb mold?
    #23174249 - 04/30/16 10:00 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Just started my first grow. We're at day 7 now. Is this normal growth or is this cobweb contamination? Noticed it the past day or two.

This is cobweb.

Here...

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17231150/fpart/1/vc/1

Link obtained by searching "How it should look" (pretty basic right?) at http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php

If in doubt, paraphrase your question in the search for an instant answer.  That's clearly cubensis mycelium though.  Definitely take the time to read up, you should be able to identify it by the rhizomorphs.

So snarky. Bitch gave him the exact info, pics of cobweb, link to a great writeup on contams, told him it's good myc based off the rizmorphic growth, and gave him a link to the advanced search (which is what makes the shroomery awesome). Pretty good IMO. Not sure why he shouldn't listen to him...

I didn't realize you had a problem with me but I can take a few minutes out of my day to have a problem with you if you're interested.

Just trying to let the noob know whats up, some of them are fragile. No need to get uppity, all is well, no problems here.

Its easy to misinterpret stuff on the web, I'm sure we all know this.

Well you said "Don't listen to him".  So I'm asking, which part exactly, in your opinion, is worth not listening to?  Which piece of information doesn't meet the quality quota?  So far my post is the only one with a picture, an answer, a thread, a link, and a suggestion.  If possible, rather than answering that, lead by example.  Would be great to see less lazy answers around here.

Darn, I was afraid of that confusion being caused by my wording.

I thought the information content was excellent TBH.

Because sometimes it's questions like "Why are these turning blue?" and "What is this black stuff on my mushrooms?" or "Is this cobweb?"  (it's almost never cobweb).  How many times have you personally answered a "Bruising or mold?" thread?  If it's less than 20 then are you in a position to say "let them ask", when it may not be you on the front lines actually doing the answering?

God forbid I teach a man to fish..  Lest I get a slew of people with mighty opinions telling me I'm being too rough..

Of course, guy who said that has 81% of his posts in political discussion on a mushroom forum, so, obviously a huge contributor here.

I get it though, I'm not actually snarky for telling him to try the search engine and providing a link as an example of the quality of posts that can be found.  It's just that the world and all the people in it are turning into a bunch of sensitive titty babies, to the point that providing extra helpful information can be considered an affront to their hypersensitive disposition.

Well fuck that.  Fuck all that and fuck anyone who perpetuates it.  That is all, I'm done here.  :leaving:

You only say this because you know he's right. You know its okay to be wrong, right? It allows you to recognize when you make mistakes. And when you do this, you can grow and learn. If you are here to learn read what these guys say and take every word in. If you make a mistake, find out where and correct it.

btw. Looks good OP. Keep up the good vibes mate. mushies will come your way
