condensation in pasty plates

Anyone know of a way to eliminate the condensation that builds up in pasty plates?....a couple of them got knocked off the plate I had in the pc to hold them....it's been about 36 hours and there is still a fair amount...don't know if that's normal...seems like there is a little more since I inoculated them earlier....read a few posts on the subject but I don't think turning them upside down....is there anything I can do?

what i've done is take them once they've cooled and carefully take a fresh piece of paper towel and wipe down the side of the container. Do this in your still air box though. And use a new paper towel each time u do it. If anybody has a better idea please let me know lol.

IME the condensation goes away and is nothing to worry about.

That makes more sense to me than sitting them upside down....I like to think my sterile techniques aren't bad....at ltimes I think I'm a little over cautious from some of the posts I've read

Cool, I made my agar a little stiffer because I read that helps but it's my first run with agar so we'll see where it takes me...and hopefully it does go away

i wouldnt do the paper towel thing, that is just asking for contam. it does end up just going away after about a week, and leaving it in there will probably not hurt as much as wiping it away. or do like blackout said, and use his link. its a great idea. all you gotta do it reheat in microwave, then swirl around to let it mix up the water.
also, if you try to bring the PC temp up a lot slower then it will help to take care of the condensation forming also.. another thin i have noticed is, right after you make the agar, and pour it into the pasty plates, let it sit there with the lid just sitting on top(not sealed, just sitting on top) and let it cool for like 10 mins or so. this actually helped get rid of some of the condensation as well, which would form before i even put it in the PC. i dont know if that step really elpes all that much, since you have to PC it anyways, which gets it hot again, but either way, i do this now. i think bringing the PC temp up as slow as possible is what helps the most.

Yeah I wouldn't use a paper towel unless you sterilized it some how and used it in a sab.
I was actually thinking about this the other day, and was thinking maybe using sterile gauze pads that are sealed. The kind you can find at any pharmacy.
Again put it in sab and open gauze packet inside

Your heating up your PC too fast and cooling down too fast.
I PC'd my Agar and LC together last night. It was my first time using a PC. I took my time and had zero boil over and almost no condensation.
Take your time next time.

I did. I had 8 Half Pint Jars (LC), and 8 Elite Style Half Pint (Agar) in my 16Qt PC. It was FULL. Worked like a dream.
Used the agar this morning too. Hopefully I'll see some growth soon.

oh, i was actually considering getting an electrical PC, when i was looking for my first PC, and couldnt find a old fashioned one in Walmart or Target. But then i read a lot of reviews online for them, and people seemed to not like them as much, and said the psi never got high enough. how do you like yours? does it work alright, and sterilize fine?
But yeah, since you have that, i would definitely go with blackout's method of re-heating the agar and swirling it gently to get the condensation into the agar.

My pc is 1/4 the size of yours... there is no controlling the temps on mine....I plug it in and press a button...it does everything else....I can not control how quickly it warms or anything to that extent....it works....just small as fuck....I had it before I got into all this...but eventually I'll get a good stovetop pc...just don't have the cash now

Haven't had a problem with it sterilizing....everything I've sterilized in it has turned out ok....I usually give it a few extra minutes

yeah.. i actually upgraded mine and returned the one i had haha. now i have a nice, 22-quart MIrro. It was suggested to me by Sloppy, and i got it for only $60, from Here. i just told Bed Bath and Beyond(where i got the first from) that the seal was messed up and it wouldnt seal right, and since i payed cash and saved the receipt, they refunded my $20.
i could have only fit probably 2 quart jars in that old one, so it wouldve been a pain in the ass to use once i start grain, which will be probably in a month or less.
but yeah, dont reheat it now haha.. anyways, the condensation has never hurt and of my plates, and it clears up after about a week or so.

I can barely fit a qt in mine if I tilt it in pc....but I don't mind, it's not like I need 5 or more qts at a time....

If it cycles properly and gets up to temp, a little condensation shouldn't be a problem at all. I haven't seen any detriment to having water on the surface of my plates. Cultures will grow fine.

There's not alot of condensation in most of them....a couple them fell off the saucer I had in my pc....I guess I'm just over thinking shit again...next batch I'll simmer a little longer so there is less water in agar to start with...then pc
