Innoc'd with 9mo old syringe, not seeing growth

Hey everyone. May have seen me post before. Relatively familiar with PF tek. I used a syringe to knock some containers up the other day that I ordered back in.... August, maybe? I've shot up 6 syringes in the past, so I mostly know what to look for. Doing the best I can not to disturb my containers, but, I'm not seeing a thing other than very small condensation drops from the innoc points. Which leads me to believe all may be good, but I shot them.... 5 days ago, IIRC, and I'm not seeing any mycelium growth to the naked eye.
I know, patience patience patience, but I'm very concerned something isn't right. I used a variation recipe, was 6 cups of BRF, 2 Verm, and 2 water. Wondering if the substrate may be too dry.
I don't really know what I'm asking. I guess just if the chances are decent that a 9 month old syringe, never refrigerated, may be dead?
Thanks everyone!
Strain is golden teacher, BTW. Not sure if they colonize slower than others..

I'm sure you know this, but wait it out. I wait 3 weeks after inoc before throwing them out and saying spores are defective.
May I suggest trying agar in the meantime. Forcing germination (which you might need to do if you wanna salvage this syringe), almost infinite supply of myc from a single drop (never needing to go back to spores again), and culture clean up is the perks of agar

Syringe age is fine.
Five days isn't long enough to worry or make a thread about
Your pf recipe is wrong.

If anything you should be using 6 Vermiculite to 2 brf ... That mixture you have made would literally be like glue and wet cereal.

The recipe is 1 part brf, 1 part water, 2 parts verm. Anything else is fail. Bleeding jesus we have seen pretty much every combination and ratio of those 3 ingredients and yet to see anyone top the tek as it stands.

Yes. It will serve your purpose. Be sure that when you cook grain in it you follow the teks. Good luck.

Apologize to offend anyone for deviating from the tek. Saw someone on here use that recipe, and seemed logical more nutrition wouldn't hurt anything. I may be mistaken, time will see.

Believe it or not brf cakes are actually too nutritious. That's why we need to consolidate them. More nutes is not always better.

The best way to test a syringe is agar. The best way to start from spores is also onto agar. Makes some pastyplates and never look back. It's not hard. It's cheap to get into and it's the foundation of mycology. Starting with agar is the best move for anyone that has a PC.

I made 8 half pints and 4 quarter pints last night, with the correct ratio. 2 Verm 1 BRF 1 water. I ran out of BRF at about a cup, so I ground up a cup of organic brown rice. I used 4 Verm, 2 BRF, 2 water, and it made enough for all my containers. Even had a little extra to go back and add a little more to the jars.
Steam sterilizing now. Gonna use my last syringe I'm hoping by this grow, I'll learn how to use agar and use my spore print a fellow member sent me.
Kinda sad to use my last syringe though. Transkei strain. Hopefully it'll be good
Thanks everyone!

Save a drop in the syringe and put it to agar. That's all I even use to start a grow from a syringe. A drop.

Trying to not make an unnecessary thread, so I'll ask here. What's pre poured plates? I want to start agar, and I want the "easiest" route for a beginner. Also, pre made mix sounds like a good idea. Can someone link me to the best place to get these items please?
Thanks!
