You don't have a liner? Like in between the sub and the tub. That's why it pinned on the sides most likely. Light really doesn't have much to do with pinning. It's all about that microclimate. Now experienced guys will tell you you don't need a liner but If that's the case you have to get your sub perfect and your caseing perfect. Which can prove difficult.

Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this.
Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping...
Holy fucking shit!

It's cute you think it was because of light coming through the cracks. I think you need to do casings more to get the experience needed to get surface pinning.

The sides pinned because it had better conditions for pinning. Basically meaning the surface hydration/evap was more optimal

My question wasn't really about why they pinned on the sides, but I'm glad you think my post was cute. I wanna know why they didn't pin on the surface, and it sounds like you don't have the answer...

They didn't pin on the surface cause it had better conditions on the side. He just told you. Mad season knows his shit.

Yes, but what about my surface conditions was sub-optimal??? As in, what should I have done differently?

And seriously, telling someone to just get more experience is not helpful, I don't care if he knows his shit...

I'm sorry? My first few casings were like that til I got experience. I was basically saying don't give up casings, sorry for making you misunderstand...

You need to take a flashlight when you do your checks, and see if the surface has a nice glisten to it with no pooling water. Mist accordingly (when it isn't glistening, but don't be over zealous, there's a goldilocks zone). It takes a lot of practice to mist properly, but the rewards are astounding. Proper misting definitely wasn't something I developed overnight, thus my experience remarks.

Oh and having as much fae as you can get is great too. Really helps bring in some epic pinsets. I actually much prefer higher fae over humidity when casing.

If you keep it glistening with high fae, you'll have more ideal hydration/evap than the sides. However too much hydration on the surface is far from ideal, and is another way to see side pins. Help?

I can't really tell you what you did wrong as I wasn't there during your grow, and your PIC isn't well lit to show any glistening on the surface (flash pics always show the glistening). All I can do is tell you what I aim for when I check up on my little buddies.
