I sort of agree. It's pretty easy to just grow a cube or two. It's difficult to grow cubes well.

Hah awesome pic.
Yep in my experience you CAN'T STOP them from growing LOL
I remember multiple spent tubs being discarded under the old cedars behind my house. 100degrees heat, dry, filthy and covered in gnats, mold, slugs and still the old sub would throw out fruits, sometimes a couple "flushes", and often, monster ass fruits.
I miss my big tubs :]

Forgotten tray that fruited while I was out of town. Yeah cubes are way too easy lol. A well maintained massive pinset/canopy is brag worthy though.

Man I'd love to see some agar videos. Mushroom videos doesn't work on my iPhone. Anyone got any beginner agar video links? Would help me (and others) if I could see it being done. Anyone on here wanna film their next agar process?

There are dozens and dozens of how to videos on YouTube, you should be able to play those, esp if you have the app.

So I just watched the lets learn agar and strain isolation.
Petri dishes seem like they'd be tough to find. I can use quarter pint containers though right? Also, should I order a pre made mix, or is that for pussies?
I really think I can do agar. I've yet to watch a transfer to grains, but I'm assuming you just slap your good culture in a jar of grains, seal, and let colonize, basically, yes?
I wonder if there's a lets grow mushrooms on how to start from spore print? I fellow kind member sent me a golden teacher print, not gonna open it until I'm ready to rock and roll, but I'm sure it's a good print.
do I just swab some print on a q top, then touch that to the agar?
Also, is it crucial to let the sectors keep going to different plates until it's one sector? Lastly, is agar very manageable without a flow hood? I don't have one, nor do I see myself ever having the funds to get one.

Petris aren't hard to get but you will probably have to order them, if you want to use 1/2 pint jars or whatever that is fine - you can even pour your agar in them ahead of time and sterilize inside so you don't have to pour the agar. Personally I love premix.. RR used it even at his level.

Pretty sure he covers it in the full videos, which you can buy for $8 at mushroomvideos.com

You can flick the foil, scrape with your sterilized scalpel, use an inoculation loop, sterile swab (not a q-tip)... many ways.

No you don't have to do strain isolation, just a couple transfers to ensure you have a clean culture to inoculate with.
Agar is pretty easy to do with a SAB but after you spend so many hours doing it you will start to want the freedom a flowhood offers.

same with weed. Just like any crop, it's not hard. But it takes work, experience and maintenance.
