I have three trays and two monos in fruiting right now and im going to harvest when i get home form work. I have always pulled and twist. Ive read on a few post that some of the cool ones ✂ instead pull for contam and it hurts to pull baby pins off with them. What is tje cleanest way to do this or should stay with twist and pull.

If it contaminates, it's because the substrate isn't healthy, not your harvest method choice. People just blame the easy thing, when in reality it is bad spawn. It's like people who say misting causes aborts, not the fact they can't provide proper conditions lol

You should use both methods IMO. Some come off easy while others will pull a bunch of substrate off with them. I try and pull them out but if I see they are really stuck in there, I use a scalpel or a knife.

Im not sure how accurate this observation is from my limited experience. Does harvesting the larger matured fruits make the younger ones weaker and more susceptible to aborts with the energy of the larger fruit having been removed?

I lift my subs out of the fc and cut at the base.

I've always used a scalpel/scissors, just for the peace of mind. If I am harvesting from one of my wild fields, then I will definitely not pull, I always notice a lot of the same clusters thin out/go away if I pull them instead of cutting them.

Ive always picked mine. Push down twist a little then pull for the most part its not too hard on the sub.

for my cakes I've done so far I use my fingers. twist and pull seems to work pretty well. But for mono's I hear its better to find a good sharp tool to cut with and get as close to the surface of the sub as you can. You can fish the rest of the stump out later when you have depleted it of mushies.

I'd say its personal preference. Also some things would contribute. If you get first flush wonder tubs/cakes, its probably best to just pick them and then start on a new tub/cakes. If you have the intention of trying to get as many flushes as possible out of your tub/cakes its probably best to cut the fruits at the base of the stem with a scalpel.
If you pack your tubs and the sub is concreted down, you can pick and not lose as much substrate. If you like to keep your tub's sub loose there is a great chance of tearing apart huge chunks if you are picking.
I've tried both ways and am still continuously logging both methods to see which produces overall better results. I personally like to do one flush wonder tubs, so I pick em regardless and start on the next one. I've packed tubs and kept them loose and have done everything in between. I'd say just find out what works best for you. Good luck!

Yeah and tons of others have had opposite experiences. I've seen trich on stumps much more than the divots, but I still maintain that it was caused because the substrate shit the bed, not because of harvest choice.
We all agree if it contams early it's spawn, well if it contams after first flush, it's spawn related, not twist and pull related lol

It's easier to pull and twist if you can get the technique down. Depends on the shroom though I guess, it's always been harder for me to fit a pair of scissors down there when other shrooms are in the way.
