Monotub or SGFC for newest grow?

I have never grown using a monotub but really want to try it.
Out of all of my recent jars that I inoculated only 4 pint jars survived without contamination.
So with 4 pint jars of BRF spawn will that be enough to mix with coir and fill a 14 gallon tote or will it not be enough?
15.9"l X 23.9"w X 12.2"h
I dont know if you need a certain amount to use for a monotub to fill the bottom.
I will use a SGFC if i have to but would really like to try the monotub but im skeptical at the moment. Jars are only 50% colonized so i still have some time

Put a tray in your SGFC. Your spawn to sub ratio is not going to be great. Get a successful tray done and start using grain as spawn for your monos. It will save you time, jars, etc.
Do you know what substrate you're going to use and hope you will pasteurize it? Get that part locked down and then do the steps of any mono tek, only use a tray and SGFC instead. Proper pasteurization of your substrate and patience for colonization before introducing to fruiting are key points.

Well I was going to mix the BRF cakes with coir and spread it on the bottom of the monotub

I'd do trays too. 2 qts of cakes isn't that much, but perfect for trays. Tbh I do all my trays with pint sized spawn jars, fuckin amazing.

It's going to be incredibly thin. Trays will surprise you.

I use these bad boys, except I use mono tub fruiting chambers instead of sgfc

It's 1 pint of spawn, with 1-2 qts of hpoo

I like that you placed them in a mono, makes sense to not put all your eggs in one basket, yet are still able to.

Yeah tray users/smaller substrate users get it, that Mono's don't make sense. They have bad BE, and use a lot of materials (or eggs :P). The only thing good about them is opening it to a full canopy lol.
I can pull out 4-6 oz per qt of spawn using trays. Mono's getting 2 oz per qt is considered great lol

You've convinced me to give it a go. That's some great efficiency. I'll be doing that with my Ecuadors and next batch of B+. I use manure as well. Do you leave uncased?

Woah this is sweet man. I love it.
Also do you think coir would result in the same yield? I only have access to coir at the moment
Is that 1 pint of spawn per tray? Damn thats impressive as fuck

I aim to get 2 oz per quart first flush in my monos. That's about 200% BE at a 1:2 spawn ratio

I aim to get 4 oz per qt at 1:2, and I believe that is about 300% BE. I consider that as pretty good, but not great.
200% in Mono's is great IMO, but smaller substrates still win in BE. I mean look at muda bottles. Those are great too in BE.
@op yeah it's 1 pint per tray. The pe is 1-1.5 qts of manure. Coir should work just great too.

So trays in fruiting chamber is better than a noob trying monotub? I made a few monos last grow, one contaminated. Wasted 4 whole cakes on the contam mono...

4 oz per quart first flush? I never seen that from anyone. Personally I just do one flush wonders if I'm growing a lot of tubs. Can't be bothered for second flushes so 150%-200% first flush is good enough for me. But a 200% BE tub is usually jammed for me. I got no idea how you would see more.
Mini mono 2 quarts graim

66 quart mono, 5 quarts grain

BE ends up the same for both IME. it's more about managing water supply and fruiting conditions which often does favor the smaller scale. But it can be done on any scale IMO.

Yeah bro 1 tray is 2 oz pretty easy lol. Each tray is half a qt of spawn and 1-1.5 qts of manure, although I do use a casing too. I forgot to add that in.

That means 4 oz per qt (over 2 trays). The pe trays came to 5 oz per qt.

Okay that's cool but I see a lot of wasted space there as well. If those trays are in a 66 quart sterilite, I'm pulling double your yield in the same fruiting space. I saw a guy spawn 2 cakes to about 50 lbs of cow poop and got a pretty sweet yield given 2 cakes spawn. But ya won't see that in my house
Really at the end of the day it's about balance. What makes the grower happy based on materials used and prepped, ease of use and prep, space, time maintaining, etc. I like to do everything; mini monos, full size, oversize, trays in SGFC, bottle grows, cakes, straw bottles, the list goes on. Try it all and have fun doing it.

I agree that you can get so much more in a smaller space when using monos, but I don't really have the need for that, I like using less materials, especially during winter when it's a bitch to get hpoo. (Had to stock up at fall).
I have yet to get over 11 ounces using trays in Mono's, but I've had 13 oz pulled in 1 mono a couple summers back.
You're right though. So much I haven't done yet, and I agree I need to do it. Try it all. I've had some decent success with straw. Haven't done the straw bottles yet though.

13 oz in a mono is my record too. Wish I got a picture of it, was my wikidzon clone and I only ever fruited it in bottles after that.
