Grain prep question
    #23169678 - 04/29/16 03:51 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

So I just put my rye berries through a couple rinses and the water is coming off pretty clear. Now I'm moving onto the 12-24 hour soak. Should I add a cup of liquid coffee to the water along with the gypsum or no? I can't for the life of me find the TEK that recommended that. Thanks.

It's not an exact science. This is a good time to add the coffee.

Ok, is a cup of left over coffee from this morning okay?

Is it okay to PC the grain jars on their side? I can't fit all 10 quart jars unless I do

Sweet. I hope I've been running my PC right. It the ones with a weight instead of a gauge. All my pasty plates turned out okay though, so I'm assuming I'm good. Thanks for the quick response

It didn't come with a book? The process is the same for all of them pretty much...

My main question is, when it hits 15 psi (in my case, when the 15psi weight jiggles) do I cut off the heat, or maintain that high heat the whole time? It did come with a book, but more towards cooking and is kind of open to interpretation

After you reach pressure lower the heat as much as you can without it losing pressure... I use an electric stove, I turn it down to medium and it holds fine...don't leave the heat up all the way, it will use way too much water
