Theres actually alot of variables to this, some are louder than others, fan speed, size, wattage, all of that matters.
Mine is 500W and makes more noise than I want it to, but it works great.

My Walmart-bought Nesco American Harvest makes about just as much noise as a standard PC does (fans/hard disks/etc).

They're a hair dryer with a box attached to it. Not very loud unless you let it get choc full of dust and shit and then the bearings whine and they get louder

I have a Presto Dehydro that i purchased from Walmart for $30. it is actually not that loud. I would definitely say that my PC makes much more noise. i have this dehydrator running over-night sometimes, and i cant even hear it in the next room, unless it is very quiet. even if it was a bit louder, i would still say it is worth it. for sure worth it, to have cracker dry mushrooms, relatively quick, that you know will last a long time.
I can speak on this specific dehydrator, and say it works very well. not very expensive, dries quickly(i give it a lot of extra time though, just to be safe), comes with 4 trays, instructions says you an go up to 8. Works perfectly for me. =]
