First monotub. Ready for fruiting? 11 days
    #23167752 - 04/29/16 02:36 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

11 days in the tub. Maybe 12. It had some problems because I accidentally put too much water in my cvg, but have since dried it out with paper towels daily and I think it's recovering. Does it look ready for fae? By the way this is 1:2 spawn:cvg.

In my opinion the myc looks very fuzzy and not too healthy but this is my first one tell me what's good. I already posted about my situation with  this tub but i think a fresh thread is perfectly called-for.
Much thanks shroomerians.

Yep looks good. Usually I wait until the tubs is covered in a surface layer of hyphal knots before introducing to fruiting conditions. Looks like you have quiet a few on there, I'd say its ready

Yeah, fruit it! But with no liner in place, you can expect to get a good amount of side pins.

You could try and duct tape the sides and bottom, and that may slow down side pin formation, if its not too late..

yeah just like a couple strips of duct tape on the outside of the bin, covering the depth of ur sub that is exposed to light on the sides. Not necessary, but would prevent side pins

Light is a secondary pinning trigger. The micro-climate on the sides and the evaporation that happens there is what causes side pins

Gotcha.. If light is secondary, then why do the bins i do (with duct tape covering the myc that would have been exposed on the sides of a clear bin) never side pin?
The bins w/o being covered on the sides will at least get a couple side pins minimum.

oh okay I thought you were taking about wrapping the sub itself in duct tape hahahaaa. I think I'll keep my side pins. Why Do people not want side pins again?

I've had plenty of side pins after taping the sides of a tub. I use a liner now. Take a construction bag and tape it to itself around the outside of the tube. Put in the tub and sanitize with alcohol. Put your bulk substrate in that. When its fully colonized cut the extra flaps from the bag. As the substrate pulls from the walls it takes the bag with it.
