Ok, here we go... After putting about an inch and a half of hydroton in the bottom I add the water/peroxide(10/1) mix...now, how much should go in. I read somewhere that it should be an inch from the top, but I can't see the liquid rise so should I just fill it with the water/peroxide mix up to about a half an inch then put in the one and half inches of hydroton? I'm concerned about putting too much. Another thing, I have purchased two airstones plus the tropical aire humidifier. I planned on hooking one of the two outlets on my air pump to the tropic and other one to both airstones. I am now under the impression that the tropic might be unnecessary and that I should devote both of the pump outlets to the air stones and forget about the tropic. Thoughts please. ...and, if I were to leave both the stones and tropic apart of the system, how should I run the pump, continuously, hourly intervals ...lets say 3 or 4 times a day? ...or maybe devote the air pump I have to the stones and leave it on all day and get another pump to run the tropic in intervals. If I do toss the tropic, should I run the pump to the stones all day or set it to the timer and pump the air out 3 or 4 times a day for and hour or an hour and a half at a time? My thinking is that the airstones in the hydroton will provide enough air exchange and humidity that I can leave out the tropic aire, but I am still foggy at about how long I should run the pump and how often....its a 55 gallon rubber maid and the pump says it can pump about 200 liters an hour....your thoughts are needed thanks.......CH PS...thanks ralphster for the speedy service, starting tomorrow....

For the poorman?s pod you want 3 to 4 inches of hydroton and add water until a half inch to a inch from the top of that.

My cousins PMP is 10x15x10 and holds 6 cakes. There is about 2" geolite and 1 1/2" H2O. Airpump is on 24Hrs, only light is natural thru a transparent top. There is also a 50W submersible heater in there to get 73 degrees. The cover also has 3/8" holes in each corner of the cover. All she does is give a quick fan in the AM before work and another in the PM after work. Probably not necessary but what the hell Also she checks the H2O level at these times. It works so well she has decided trade the Tropic-Aire for a Chitwan print Now she needs to get rid of some perlite as well! Just do a dunk and roll, toss in the PMP and watch the magic happen!
Thanks for a great idea Magash
