Motorized bicycles by Chakatron 1

Hi everyone. This year I became interested in motorized bicycles after seeing a few zipping around town.
I really enjoy working with my hands building and fixing stuff.
So I decided to order a kit and slap it on an old ten speed. THE BLUE THUNDER.

Sold it a day later. I had discovered a fun hobby with the potential to make a few bucks. Motorized bicycles by chakatron was born.
I took the money from the first build and ordered two kits. And bought a bicycle from my neighbor for twenty bucks. Second build. THE PINK CADILLAC.
. After that I had enough to buy a completely new bike. THE RED BARON.

I'm currently waiting on 4 engine kits I ordered. I have a huffy cranbrook that I gave a paint job to (not the best paint job). I will be installing an engine on it and a buddy of mine already gave me a down payment for it.
Any way if any one is interested I will be updating this thread with my next build (huffy cranebrook). I will try and take as a many pics of the building process as I can.
If any one has questions post here or feel free to pm me.
Thanks to TheNatureKid for giving me the idea for this thread.

nice builds man
How long did it take for you to complete the project? I really love The Red Baron, looks sexy.
Would you be able to link to the site where you got the kits at?

They take me between 3and a half to 7 hours if you have a nice assortment of tools. A dremel helps filing defects in the aluminum molding. Yeah the red baron was my favorite so far, I really wanted to keep it. But I'm going to motorize a pair of matching lowrider bikes for me and my wife. Micargi hero lowrider to be exact.
The kits are cheap eBay kits that I upgrade with grade 8 hardware, NGK spark plugs. Good fuel line (the Chinese ones are crap).
Just type 49cc bicycle engine kit in the search bar on eBay. There's a couple sellers for a hundred bucks shipped, takes about a week. Comes with everything you need except gas and oil. Watch you tube for instructions because the booklet that comes with them are very poorly translated. They literally are no help.

This is cool and all, but not for me.
I love bikes, and LOVE riding, I own several of them, and want to own several more, in fact I could see bicycling turn into a serious money pit I like them that much.
But I could never ride one of these, just feel like cheating. Cool to see one of your hobbies though, and I wish you the best with your future work.

These are bikes you ride to get around for cheap, not something you ride for fun. That's what real bikes or motorcycles are for.
Mostly, they're a way for people to get around DUIs, lol.

A valid drivers licence is required in my state to ride these. So people with DUI risk getting in trouble. I always make sure to explain the law to potential buyers.

That depends on your state, but I'm glad you let people know. In my state, as long as it's 49cc or less you don't need a license, it doesn't have to be registered, etc. It's the same as a bicycle.

My buddy wasn't ready to start on the red cranbrook with me (he wants to help build it). So I went and bought a new cranbrook from Walmart and threw it together quickly. Didn't have time to take pictures of the build. Hey, I needed something to put for sale.
I introduce THE GREEN GOBLIN.

Few more projects I did but forgot I made this thread. The cranbrook was finished but I'll have to find a pic from old phone.

1. Mike's hard lemonade 2. The black widow(very proud of that one) 3. Superman (smaller youth size) 4. Redbird (build for a buddy of mine) 5. FRANKENBIKE (my bike)

My bike started with this lowrider. But it wasn't very stable at higher speeds.
Then used some mountain bike parts for this, Kept the frame and seat.
 Now I'm riding this.

Thanks dude! I'm in Illinois. Northeast.

A fasho, I thought you were located in Norcal for some dumb reason.
The lowrider looks cool but unsafe for some reason, maybe the fork? IDK.
That seats reminds me of the old chopper bikes, same with the lowrider handle bars.
Last question, do you think its feasible to do this with a Track frame instead of a mountain or beach cruiser frame?

Have a pic of something similar? I know it has been done before. I've seen a Walmart flip flop fixie bike motorized before, shouldn't be too hard. I'm actually thinking of ordering some 700c mag wheels for my next personal build. (Trans am tribute bike).

Have you considered getting something better than those rag joints? Your spokes won't last long like that.
Have you done any 4 stroke builds? That's what I want to do next.

Never had any problems with spokes breaking...........actually the mikes hard lemonade broke a few spokes but that was from having to hop a curb to avoid a little kid who ran into the street. Other than that, they're all going strong. If the engine is upgraded for racing I'll more than likely switch to a manic mechanic hub sprocket adapter.
I haven't built a 4stroke on a bicycle yet, but last summer I built a few mini bikes with 212cc predator engines.
