Super quick wbs question.
    #23163592 - 04/27/16 11:57 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

How much wbs should I use to fill up 5 quart jars?

When I used rye it was easy, 2 quarts dry turned into roughly 7 quarts soaked. Actually I remember being one jar short on my first prep lol. I've read conflicting info on how much wbs to start with. Some prep tek said it would expand 20% while another said to use half the amount dry that I wanted for my final product. I would wing it, but that's pretty rough info to try to work with if you ask me.

Much thanks shroomerians.

Depends if your soaking it or simmering it as well. Water soaking alone will get you 20%. But wbs varity is endless so hard to say. Try 3.5 dry qt if just soaking and 3quarts if simmering.

I was going to soak and simmer. Maybe that's where I got confused.  Thanks!

I use one cup dry per quart jar.

one full dry quart --> two myco quarts of hydrated grain

so 2.5 quarts for 5 myco quarts

Sweet I made extra but I also scooped about a quarts worth of sunflower seeds out of it. Is that factored in with your estimation or nah? I'm currently soaking

that should give you a good indication of how much to fill each jar. If you are asking how much birdseed it actually takes....a 5$ bag from the pet food aisle will get you through about 12-15 quarts or more....i measure out my birdseed using a jar and fill them to the 500ml graduation of dry seed.

Oh I just wasn't sure how much the wbs expands during preparation. I only have five free jars and I didn't want to waste a bunch of wbs. I got it now thanks mane
