Crushed PF Cakes?

Think I would get more mushrooms from crushing a few colonized PF cakes into a tray/mono and letting it recover than if I were to just leave the PF cakes alone?

You mean use them as spawn on hpoo or straw? Or just break up the cakes and put in SGFC on a tray?

I'm not sure. I've never tried. I know you can break them up and spawn to straw coir poo. If I wasn't gonna spawn them I'd probably just leave them whole so I can keep dunking them. But that's just me.

I don't think it really makes a difference in yield overall. Your ability to run each fruiting chamber is what will make the difference.
I prefer grating and spawning to coir because it allows me to use a monotub. I hate SGFCs.
Most people get 3-6 grams dry per cake on average. Spawning to coir won't change this much. My PF bulk subs tend to yield more because they are easier to take care of than cakes. I like having just a top surface to take care of. I think adding a verm casing to a bulk sub is way more effective than rolling cakes in verm. You need a little depth in a casing layer. Also makes the whole grow more consistent, but it's still MS so it'll be pretty random.
And you can dunk bulk subs just fine. I like to dunk before the first flush, after it is done recolonizing. 24 hour dunk, drain the next day, apply verm casing (1/4"-1/2"), put in fruiting conditions.

I seem to have little flies trying to lay eggs on my cakes. The bastards keep flying out of my SGFC when I come to mist.

Remove your cakes... Submerge them in water... Throw out all of your perlite... Then go to war with those gnats before you get your cakes back out of the water man... That's the only way I got rid of those little motherfuckers... They will just continue to multiply everyday... That's sucks yamoon

It's unlikely you'll get more OP. Even when you spawn cakes to coir/verm there's not much of a difference.
Like Greenrabbit says 3-6 dried grams per cake or there abouts.
In my experience spawning cakes to coir/verm produces much prettier fruits but a yield increase is not noticeable. For example a recent mini mono tub of mine produced 24g dry first flush from 1quart brf spawn. (MS) Which equals 6 grams per cake. This may not be true everytime. Just sharing my experience.

Can you explain your monotub BRF cake tek? Process? Please? I trust you, and have a lot cakes going. I've made two monotubs but one contaminated unfortunately.

What's the ratio you use for your cakes of coir/Verm, you do mini monks? What size containers?

You can do any size, but yea they were usually minis.
Spawn to just coir, the cakes have enough verm in them as is. I don't like to use spawn rations lower than 1:1. Just find a tub that fits the number of jars you have ready.
The bulk substrate won't do much for yield as it contains little or no food. The benefit is in having the flat surface, and the ability to have a deeper casing layer.
